My wife has been interested in driving the Ferrari (F360 F1 Spider) even though it is not a stick shift (she won't drive anything but a stick).

It was a beautiful day. The sun was shining. Hardly a cloud in the sky. The birds were singing. Perfect convertible weather. The car was driving perfectly. It's Friday the 13th but so far so good.

She started out by driving around the school parking lot which is empty because there is no school in summer. So far so good. then she got tired of that so...

We drove around town (Basalt). She said all the guys are smiling at me. This is fun. then she got tired of that so...

We made it to the highway and headed toward Aspen. Almost immediately we were being followed by a Pitkin County Sheriff's SUV. Then a few minutes later we were also being followed by a State Police car too. Fortunately she was driving the speed limit.

After about 5 miles the state cop turns on his lights and siren and starts moving up on us at super speed. Then he passed us like we were standing still heading out of sight. Of course the Pitkin County Sheriff's car is still behind and follows us all the way into Aspen (18 miles).

Now the search for a parking space in Aspen begins. We drove around and all my usual favorites are taken. But she is persistent and likes to drive and have the guys smile at her so we keep looking. Finally we find a diagonal parking spot just past the Little Nell...we are not going to have to parallel park the 360...THANK YOU GOD!

So we go to Starbucks and get frappachinos (sp?) and all she can talk about how great driving the Ferrari is and blah, blah, blah.

Then she says, you know, I think I could be a Formula One driver.

Can anybody out there help me?

Take her to the local carting track.

When everyone starts telling her she's a bit old to be starting out, she'll quit:
women hate to hear the phrase, "too old". ;)

    PNH,

You got an awesome wife there. Comments like "she won't drive anything but a stick" makes my heart warm. If I didn't just get married last month, I would have enquired if she had a like minded sister. :)

So the moral of the story is that one should not let their wife drive the F car!

    Phil,
I’ve been fighting with my wife over a Ferrari since 1981 when I tried to get her to go along on buying a fiberglass 308 at FAF. After years of futile logical arguments I’ve decided to take a page out of your play book. There is a little Red & Tan Porsche Boxster for sale by a lady down the street and I got the Mrs. to take it for a test drive. AH HA! As soon as the ink is dry on it’s title I will start trying to get a buddy with a Rossa & Tan 308 to let her drive it. After all if she can drive a 6 cylinder Boxster why not a little old eight cylinder 308? Then when we go to see the grand daughter in Atlanta maybe a test drive in a Testarossa? Look out Ferrari of Atlanta here we come! I can smell the leather now.
Am I a Geniuses or what?
