    Texas!
Next week, the good Doc is going be rolling into your town. I gotta do a gig at NYU. However, I will be staying with my daughter in the Tribeca area, who is doing a summer internship at Dutton Books.

After checking locally for some restaurant recommendations (yes, Texans do occasionally cross the Red River) and here's what I got:

    Vongs @ Trump
    Manhattan Ocean Club
    Le Bernardin
    IL Postmo
    Old Homestead Steak House
River Cafe (at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge)
    Peter Lagaos
There is supposed to be a $$$$ Sushi place at the Columbus Circle which may be impossible to get into.

Have you got any other recommendations? This may be one of the last time that I get to be my daughter's date (yes, they do grow up way too fast). High class or low rent, it doesn't matter.

    Thx, Dale

agree with most of the above except Sea Grill - it's touristy and not very good IMO.

    21 Club is fantastic

Tribeca has Nobu (sushi) and Chanterelle, both of which are excellent

Midtown has db Bistro, Le Bernardin, Milos, Alain Ducasse.. the list is endless

What kind of menu are you looking for?

I threw that in there for tourist sake. Not a bad spot, but the location is pretty cool for an out of towner. The list of spots is kinda endless actually...that's what I love about NYC!

le bernadin is a very STIFF restaurant. all dudes wear sport coats and never take em off. food is good thought, but if u hate really strict and uptight restaurants, that is a place not to go

mercer kitchen was mentioned as a 'hot spot'. it was a 'hot spot' like 5 years ago. i would not recommend that place anymore

    Get a burger at 21.

Boycott Jean George. I've been to the one in Shanghai 4 times and they have always screwed or tried to screw me on the wine. You don't always get what you ordered at that place even if you order in French with the French staff.

    Bastages!

Definitely. Or db bistro - their burger is sirloin, shortribs and foie gras

I went to 21 two weeks ago and to one of their party rooms upstairs. For pre-dinner cocktail hors d'oeuvres they have tiny, bite-size hamburgers. They are so funny! (and so good)
