I'm a cyclist (note I purposely didn't use "biker", those are on Harleys please) and I get pissed when cyclists ride two or three abreast on roads. When you have traffic get in single file!
Yes, I've seen cyclists get ticketed for not coming to a complete stop and putting their foot down. A problem I admit and break traffic laws myself is sometimes it is safer to roll through a stop just because it takes too long and is actually less safe to get going again from a stop after being unclipped. I'll never do this at a 4-way stop if a car has the right away or where I have to impede cross traffic. I'll completely stop and even wave cars around that I have the right away over just because it takes awhile to get clipped and through the intersection after a stop. I will roll through a stop if I have the right away and not impacting other traffic. I will accept fault if ticketed, but I will explain to the officer I will continue the same behavior for safety reasons. Fact is some cyclists give other cyclists a bad name. Same thing with drivers.
when I'm on my mountain bike and in town I ride on the sidewalk sometimes, BUT I go slow and when I encounter walkers, I move over or stop and let them by or I don't go flying by them at speed. Pays to be considerate and not contribute to giving cyclists a bad name.
I ride my XC bike on trails only, I'd rather take my chances with the rocks and trees rather than traffic. God forbid I come across a driver like me!
Jersey is just as much fun, I'm pretty sure in the last week I haven't been in a single case where I really could accelerate faster than the Jeep can (which is friggin pathetic, it has all of maybe 150hp and barely revs to 4k). 6am Saturday is just about the only time you could even think about clipping an apex. I honestly think 99% of this is a result of the automatic transmission. It's the bain of modern society IMO. It allows total %&*%) morons to think they have a clue behind the wheel. Momentum is a far off planet in another solar system. My personal favorite is the "oh wait, I'm stupid and have been holding you up because my head is too far up my ass to see the road outside of my bubble, so now I'll make up for it by mashing the sh*() out of the gas and accelerating like hells bells. - because that makes up for me stopping for no reason whatsoever." That's honestly what I think about every morning during my 10 minute commute, I recognize the autos usefulness in forklifts, cranes, etc. but it really has no place on the street IMO. It allows people to get too distracted from the task at hand.
