thank you very much, marcel. you're an incredible source. is it still considered a '76 model? mine is certified, i should dig up the red binder it's probably clarified there. i once saw a list of updates, by serial number, throughout the 365 series production. i dont suppose you have this?
My understanding is that Americans consider all cars built after August already the next years model (September 1975 built = 1976 MY). No such thing exists in Europe. Marcel Massini
check the ferrari data plate for month and year of manufacture. that is the model year the car is. that year is the year that governs the dot/emissions regulations compliance. ed
Hi boys, yes, "Pelle Blu" which means skin blue? Very strange sounding colour. Does anyone have a pic of this interior from any model? Would be interesting to see how it's like so that I can perhaps retrim it back to factory spec in future. Monsieur Marcel?
Oh ok, found a RHD silver 512BB in Australia with this cabin. User SBDaytona of the other ferrari site has this 1979 Argento with PELLE BLU VM 3282. I hope he don't mind about me posting his car here. Think it's a strange combination for a red car though, don't think I saw many red Ferraris with dark blue cabin though it's so easy to maintain! Pelle Blu = Leather Blue. In Italy they write the word Blue without the letter "e" at the end of the word. Pelle = leather. Marcel Massini
the one 365 i heard recently sounded raspy vs the the more throaty 512 sound. but that is car specific and can likley be altered.
Hello guys, so i went over to UK, picked her up then drove over to France & headed for Paris & back to London! Did over 500miles in 3days & up to 100mph but wouldn't dared to push her much. When we went back to London, we got stucked in a terrible evening peak hour jam that lasted over 2hrs. When I stop to rest, it wouldn't start & I left her @ Eastern London! Ok, right in front of a hospital & got a transport to pick her back to workshop Her alternator seems to be shot as few hours after I collected her, the battery was flat & I was given a jumper+new battery for the long trip. Let's hope she works fine soon. Took some photos along the way, enjoy Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Took a good drive along the countryside in South-east UK. It's winter time so night sets in @ about 4pm Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Didn't like the roads in UK, they're all so narrow but I would like to find time to visit Snowdonia & the English Riviera then perhaps Scottish in future. This is the 1st time that I drove in UK & Paris. Most of my time were clocked in Italy & Swiss. It wasn't easy learning to start this Big carbs car as we're so used to modern stuff that starts @ the button & my car had a ticking "time-bomb" of flat battery! Took the train ride from Dover to cross the Channel. Paid £160+ for a return trip! Didn't know that it's cheaper to pre-book the crossing on internet. Ouch.... Fuel is £1.40+/- per Litre in UK & IIRC 1.30+/- in France. Surprisingly, the Boxer is rather kind on fuel on highways. Think I covered 300 odd miles for half a tank? Either that or the Veglia meter isn't accurate My car almost couldn't start when we reached & there were 2 cars behind me Thank God, I prayed After that, it's a 3 odd hours or about 300km of night drive straight to Paris via the A1 highway. It was evening jams again near Paris central & the Boxer behaved well. No overheating & clutch was rather kind. Helped that the gearings are rather tall too, I could leave it in 1st & let the idle push it through cruising. Headed straight for Eiffel tower & took two rounds around the chaotic Arc du Triomphe! Went down Ave. Champs Elysees & headed for Place de La Concorde where there's a carnival of stalls lined up along the sides so you can soak up the festival Christmas! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
There's a nice Ferris wheel going on now, right in front of the Jardin before Louvre. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I really like the triple exhaust! It's a great design feature, maybe not that loud, but unique in it's way! Great car!!!
outstanding, what a way to live with your BB! i especially like the white exhaust plumbing hanging down under the rear. in black is disappears, but in white you see all the gnarly plumbing.
Jon, Beautiful car. I would suggest getting a set of the original fitted luggage (expensive, but less so than the cost of the damage a roof rack would do) or modern luggage that will tuck into the nooks and crannies. There's more room than you think. Also, if I might suggest, have the service center redo the engine covers -- they should be annodized (flat black), not painted and shiny. Otherwise, the car looks superb. Steve
Wonderful trip and pics, Jon. Thanks for sharing. Your alternator story bring back many BB memories. I think I went through 4 of them.... When the indicators stop working, you know you have 15 miles of driving left in the battery! Nice to see the car being used! I plan to visit #17977 in two days and drive her for the first time after the engine rebuild. Can't wait for spring and do some trips like you are doing now. Keep enjoying the car and happy holidays!
