I pretty certain this car spent some time in the UK (the red steering wheel being the give-away). It was up for sale for some time in the early noughties by a long defunct dealer called Pullicino (sp?) who specialised in left hand drive cars in the UK. IIRC it was featured in an article in EVO magazine about buying left hand drive imported cars in the UK although don't ask me which issue it was.
Another thing is that the alarm red spot light won´t turn off even with the car running... Kind regards,[/QUOTE] The battery built into the alarm horn is dead. Just buy a new alarm horn and be done with it. People have tried cutting them open to replace the battery, which is hard to get, but most of the time I find that the battery has gone bad and has leaked onto the circuit board, destroying the whole unit. Or you can put some black tape over the led. Brian Brown
Thanks!!! I´ve tried to search the EVO issue at the EVO webpage but I couldn´t fond it. I only need the issue number or a scan of the article, If someone could help me..... I haven´t tried with the alarm light yet...I´m still learning slowly about the car.... Also, apart from the gas/foam tyre inflator, my car has fire extinguiser...should I refill or replace it? How often? Kind regards,
Good evening, It´s been a long time since I posted last year!!! Here I attach some pictures at the legendary Jarama circuit, shot for Coches Clasicos magazine. I´m still thinking about the height of my car. It´s too low for my garage, the city, speed bumps, etc....which is the normal height. Do I need to change the springs if I put the suspension 3cms higher than actual setup? Kind regards. Fass, It is easy to adjust rideheight by turning the spring perch to the desired height. The problem is it is a tough job because there is not much room for spring compressors to fit. In my case it was faster to remove the entire coilover then put a spring compressor on the garage floor then turn the spring perches.
Thank you Fatbillybob, I will do so. Hello Onno, yes I did the trip through Europe, but as I hit the front spoiler and the undertray with a road bump, I planned the trip to go on the Maserati Ghibli and have it serviced at Candini, in Modena. Unfortunately the check engine light on the Ghibli lit a few days before parting, so I went to the Ferrari-Maserati service Santogal in Madrid. They took the car, but didn´t have the software to plug in the car (because the car is 1996 and that´s too old for them!). Called Candini but they were on easter holydays...and I was afraid of travelling in summer with the check engine lit, although it run on safe mode. So...we went in our ever loyal 1995 Porsche 911 Carrera coupé (993). We parted from Madrid to Barcelona, took a ferry 1 1/2 days trip to Livorno, Italy, then went to Firenze, Siena, Montepulciano, Modena, Milano, Como, Lugano, Varese, Verbania (lake Maggiore), St. Jean Cap Ferrat, Monaco, Saint Paul de Vence, Saint Tropez, Bormes les Mimosas, Gerona, Madrid. The trip was perfect, but we could not have done it with the 550m´s ground clearance , especially getting into the ferry, apart from staying 1 day at the sun, salt, etc while crossing the Mediterranean on the way to Italy. Another problem is going to the beach in a nice car....because being at the Côte d Azur in August and not going to the beach is a crime. Apart from the sun, the crowded beach car parks, the sand gets everywhere in the car, the car gets so hot and suffers so much its not worth going. The next trip is a long week end to the Costa Brava at the beginning of the summer..... Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Is the ground clearance that much different between the 911 and 550?? Or is the real difference the fact that the front wheels of the 911 are closer to the very front of the car thus helping it more on downslopes?? Is there much difference in ground clearance between a 550 and 575?? I am considering shipping our 575 to Europe sometime later this summer for a 2-3 month tour of Europe but after reading these posts I am becoming concerned about ground clearance issues.
Do you have the last photo of the daytona and 550 in a larger file you can email? I would love to make it into a poster for my office.
I have a 2000 Euro with similar exhaust and red calipers. I am not sure what options it has. The car was originally Mark Levison's and it has some subtle changes to the interior for audio gear he added. I like this color combination but it may not be for everyone. Steve
Europe trips can be so much fun!! I am driving my 550 from Scotland, to Brussels, to Germany, to Czech Rep, to Austria, to Italy, to Monte Carlo in mid June this year! 4,050 Kms in 21 Days and I can't wait. I will be posting a journal with pics whilst over there.

It is a bit unusual. The person who first bought the car, and special ordered it, I'm wondering if white, red and blue were somehow very special to him/her. That's what struck me in the first photos. But even though the interior looks white in the photos, it seems it is a very light brown. We'd have to ask the original owner.
Jajajajaja, it´s great fun hearing from you. My car is 3cms lower than a standard 550 or 575, I´ve measured with both cars. If you plan to send your car to Europe to do a summer trip, I´d recommend you to hire a car with European plates. Here there´s a huge financial crisis and those luxury rent a car companies are in their worst moment...the may have something very special for hire while you keep your car at home. Yes, the 993 front spoiler is shorter and higher than the 550´s. Before the trip I changed the 18" inch Speedlines on my 993 for standard 17" inch Cup II alloys. Italian road bumps are huge, in some roads it´s a nightmare, so it´s much better to traver with standard suspension. I was invited by a friend who is participating at the Mille Miglia later this May. They have an space in a truck for another car to travel from Spain to Italy....the plan was to travel behind the Mille Miglia cars with the same roadbook...but I cannot this year...may be next Mille Miglia in a vintage car?
Hi! My car is just in for an oil and cambelt service. The mechanic told me that in the build sheet, apart from the Fiorano handling pack , roll bar, sports seats, etc.....it specifies the car came with a luggage set in bordeaux. I´d like to buy them....¿has anyone seen those bordeaux leather bags? Thanks for your help.
