http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/68186 How many drivers in history has won a F1 title, CART title, Indy 500 & Le Mans ? Did Mario Andretti ever won at Le Mans ?
No Mario finished 2nd there, I was hoping he would win it. I think Graham Hill won at Le Mans, but not so sure, he did win the F1 Championship (2x), Indy 500, and before Senna he was pretty dominant at Monaco.
JV hasn't won Le Mans yet, so there is no need to count the chicken before they hatch, isn't it? He is only driving one of the 6 top contender cars in the race. Mario Andretti has never won Le Mans. The nearest we have is Graham Hill who won 2 F1 titles, Indy 500 and Le Mans.
I would think that a true Grand Slam in motorsport ought to include the following four, encompassing the four biggest events in racing: F1 World Championship Indy 500 win Le Mans win Daytona 500 win The far, 3 drivers have won three of those but no one has won all four, though Mario came very, very close Mario Andretti: F1 champ, Indy 500, daytona 500 wins, 2nd place in LeMans. Graham Hill: F1 Champ, Indy 500, Le Mans wins AJ Foyt: Indy 500, Daytona 500, Le Mans wins.
Mario finished 2nd overall and first in LMP1 in 1995 with a Courage chassis and a turbo'd Porsche engine. He also raced in 2000 in a front-engined Panoz roadster.
