Quite a stretch for a 50th claim, but it is something.

This August we celebrate the 50th anniversary of the introduction of the curvaceous Ferrari Dino 246 GT. Designed by Friend of Concorso, Leonardo Fioravanti, the Dino’s design was one of Sergio Pininfarina’s favorite. The model marked Enzo Ferrari’s desire to develop more accessible models, and was also Ferrari’s first model with fewer than 12 cylinders, and a mid-engined car as well. We are pleased to share with you that our partner, Heacock Classic, a leader in the collector vehicle insurance market, will host in their display at Concorso Italiano Jack May and his 1973 Ferrari Dino 246 GTS #05984.

In 1975 Jack and his Dino were immortalized in racing history when he set the record time from New York City to Los Angeles during the Cannonball Baker Sea-to-Shining-Sea Memorial Trophy Dash. What an incredible race that must have been!

“We at Heacock Classic Insurance are proud to again partner with Jack to promote our collector car lifestyle and we’re very excited to bring him to this year’s Concorso Italiano,” said Pete Doriguzzi, Vice President Heacock Classic. With Concorso’s focus on Italian cars, Jack and his Dino are the perfect policyholder and car to represent Heacock’s support for the ongoing growth of our hobby.”

Visitors to the Heacock Classic display will have the opportunity to meet Jack and receive a signed poster commemorating his legendary 1975 drive.

Heacock Classic Insurance has offered collector vehicle insurance across the continental United States for over 30 years and is recognized nationally as a leader in the collector vehicle insurance market, providing policyholders with personally tailored specialty insurance for their antique, classic, collectible, and exotic collector vehicles, allowing them to live the “collector vehicle lifestyle” to the fullest extent. Concorso Italiano is thrilled to have this iconic example of the Dino at our event as we celebrate the 50 years, and invite all enthusiasts to join us this August 17th at Bayonet Black Horse Golf Course in Seaside, CA.

We also invite you to read Jack’s full interactive story, with images. It is an account about a race across the country—fascinating and well-told. Get the full narrative here.
