I'm about to take a look under a friend's '93 TR, to investigate a leak, and am not sure where the jack points are. The owner indicated that he didn't see anything in the owner's manual about this and pointed out that no jack came with the car. Help!

Two crimped pads, one behind the front wheel, one just about at the rear seam of the door. They look sorta like H's, with the sides running perpendicular to the side of the car. I jack at the rear one, which will lift the entire side of the car. I put a jack stand under the frame in the back and also under the jack point in the front (I have special wooden block that I made to sit on top of my jack stand). But you can also jack at the side, and just use a jack stand in the rear to get the back up enough to slide under.

    Good luck, don't squish yourself!

Thanks, J. Is this model supposed to come with a jack?

Doc...all 512TRs when new came with a jack kit.

For getting under my car, I made some low profile ramps and get the car another 4 inches up, then roll a floor jack underneath the center of the main cross frame at the front (in between the front tires) and raise the whole front of the car up and place jack stands at the front longitudinal frame rails where the lower a-arms attach. Then I use a large chunk of 4X4 on the jack pad to distribute the load, place the floor jack under the center of the rear differential area, and raise the whole rear of the car, and place jackstands at the rear longitudinal frame rails at about where the front link of the rear a-arms attach. Many have said I should not raise the car this way, but I have never had a problem. On the other hand I have heard where people have cracked the windshield or rear window when jacking from a single point along the side rails. This topic has been raised before....and hopefully some others chime in with their experiences.

CAUTION!!!!!! When jacking up a TR be sure to jack both sides of car (driver side and passenger side) at the SAME time. Trust me i learned the hard way!!! if you only jack one side at a time there is SO much chasis flex, it puts and enormous strain on the rear glass and it WILL crack it right at the radius. Believe me i know from experience, i cracked my rear glass just from jacking up one side of the rear to clean the under side of car. It is a $2500.00 mistake plus labor.....No one should have to go thru this!!! Learn from others mistakes!

    Good Luck.
