got the valve covers off and wife had lunch ready and was wondering what happened to me. So comfortable I took a nap!! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Now that's really getting into your work! Beats what I had to do, climb in with my socks on. Much better for the back. How bout casters so you don't have to get off to reposition?
While it looks like a terrific piece of equipment, my wife, who chased bad guys for a long time said "Jacomatic creeper" sounds more like a stalker than a shop tool. So maybe some careful market research will bring a better label to the fore. Oh, and I've racked my brain, and I got nothin' to suggest. D
Ray, you do not want it to move, you just move yourself. We can have a name this thing contest. Anyway it makes it easier, because you use a tray in front of you on the intake plenum and use the fenders as well. about ready to pull the ex cams out and put the variators on. where do you find the lowest cost degree wheel, or can I rent one from someone as I hopefully will not need it again!!!!
Don't rent one, just silly. If u want I can send you my kit for a loan. I bought this one, I like it. I have a heavy 1 foot by 6 inch x 3/4 inch piece of steel plate that I put on the exhaust manifold and I was able to use the magnetic base for the mb arm and was very stable didn't move at all. Amazon has plenty of options. Mine was actually delivered by a drone!! (Name joe and drove a brown truck lol). I had to modify the piston stop by making the OD of the rod proximal to the threads smaller by grinding, and I also fashioned an extension to it. Which translates to I did it once. Perhaps I can say "in cam after cam" aka I did it twice once for each bank. I know some don't like the piston stop method, and Brian likes a very large degree wheel, don't know if this qualifies but it worked for me. Btw I would replace the o ring cam seals even if they are not leaking, can't see putting the old ones back in for like 20 bucks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

OK you guys enough jack jokes!!! got the variator off one side and my buddy is machining a socket to fit on the variator to torque it down. Can you use a click type wrench to use on a left hand thread? My Snap on wrenches say on the handle not to use them to remove bolts, but it does go both ways. I have never needed to use one on a left handed thread. Any comments?
I think the reason you shouldn't use a ratchet to remove nuts/bolts is that you may not know the torque it was installed with, so you could break (theoretically)the ratchet mechanism. As to whether or not a torque wrench works on left handed threads, I don't know, but as suggested, try it at a lower setting on a scrap bolt.
There are actual professional versions of this with hydraulic adjustment etc. I saw one being used by an automotive engineer on the Jag forum to work on a difficult to reach area in the engine compartment. But I think the thing was like $10K.
Mine was totally free, just stuff I had around. My adjustment is my car hoist or some plywood under the arms that go under the car!! I am going to buy one thing, I will show it when it arrives. I will tell my wife I saved 10K and put it towards another toy!!
Most torque wrenches are calibrated for right hand operation and have somewhat lower accuracy going left. There are torque wrenches specifically designed to do either.
I have a professionally made one from Tech-lift and it is manually adjustable for height. They quit making them and it is too bad because every other top side creeper I see now are really terrible designs and not very well made. I disagree about the wheels though. Mine is on wheels and if it had not come that way I would have installed them. Not being able to move just negates most of the utility of it.
