I have just received news that Jacques Swaters of Ecurie Francorchamps fame passed away last night in Brussells, Belgium. M deepest condolences to Florence and family. Paul
Might it now be appropriate for this site's tribute to be an entry in the Who's Who in the Ferrari Universe section
Sad news. A true icon of Ferrari history. Enzo will be thrilled to meet his old friend up in the skies.
Very sad. He was a real gentleman. I went to see him a few years ago and he was most courteous. My condolences to his family. Nathan
I don't know what I could say! He was a great man! I unfortunately have never met him, but I wanted to... RIP.
Jacques was a great man. One who was respected by all, honest, fair, and a very good friend. When Jacques, Florance, and Maryelise would come to the States, he would always stay with me. They were always a pleasure. I asked Jacques a number of years ago why he won't come to the States any more, his answer; I refuse to fly all that way with out smoking! Ah, Europeans, and the (good?) old days! Jacques, you were a true friend, and you will be missed. Gary Bobileff
I had the pleasure to meet him and visit his collection in the basement at the time that Garage Francorchamps was still in Zaventem. He was a great man, always eager to share his passion. Jacques will indeed see his old friend back and they will have many discussions while watching us RIP Condolences to his beloved ones Eddy Pareit
Very sad to hear this news. I have met Swaters several times, the first time during FF40 in 1992 at the 'Lozenberg' premises. A few years later, I met him during the Spa Ferrari Days where he drove his 166MM barchetta around the track with his grandson on board. The last time I saw Swaters was at Ferrari 60. He looked very old at that occasion but was in good and entertaining company of mr David Piper. Two Ferrari 'dinosaurs' talking about 'then', see below. My condolances to his family and friends.
