    I am looking to get a X300 (X305?) XJ12 (1995-96 cars).

Is there much difference aside from OBD II and LWB on only 96 cars? Any advice what to out look for?

Thanks for any help. I love the style of these cars (the X300 and X308), much more so then the new Al Jag sedans. The fact they made it with a real Jaguar 6.0L V12 just makes it even more appealing, as I don't really want a V8.

Maybe try http://www.jag-lovers.org/ - the site has the information and the experts but it isn't that easy to use - although maybe they have changed it.

I'm more familiar with the I6 XJRs and never really followed the V12s but I have seen a few. I know you said you didn't want a V8 but remember there are supercharged V8 VDPs that they sold for a year or two.

Ahh, the thread I've been looking for!

    I have a 1997 XJR and I LOVE it!!!!!

The X300 Jags are considered to easily be as reliable as any of their competitors from Germany, Sweden, etc...The "Fordification" of Jaguar really worked some wonders, and fortunately it was mainly in the management, not the engineering. My XJR has 160,000 miles on it and runs beautifully and every single thing on the car works flawlessly. Maintenance has been reasonable, no worse or better than a Bimmer, MB or Audi but I will say that XJRs have an incredible hunger for tires every 12,000 miles at $200 a pop for the correct OE Pirellis or Michelins. Watch out for the '98-'00 V8s as they suffered from Nikasil cylinder liner problems. The '95-'97 AJ16 engine is damn near bullet proof as is the GM 4L80E transmission. It can easily handle 600 lb/ft. torque if you could produce it. And of course, if the tranny ever takes a dump on you, it's GM so it's CHEAP to rebuild!

The X300s didn't suffer from the electrical maladies of older Jags, and they do have a lot of electronics in them but they all seem to work well enough.

And yes,for more Jaguar information than you could possibly ever digest, go visit http://www.jag-lovers.org

There is an X300 message board there.

    Cheers,
    Aaron
