    JUST GOT A CALL FROM A CUSTOMER OF MINE ( MORRIS COUNTY SHERIFF OFFICE) A DETENTION CENTER NEAR ME, TO TEACH YOUNG DETAINEES (NON-FELONY CRIMINALS) BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION AT THEIR JAIL..

    ITS NOT THE MONEY THEY OFFERED ME BUT THE GRATIFICATION OF TEACHING YOUNG KIDS AGES 16-21 ABOUT BUSINESS AND HOPEFULLY GET THEM GOING ON THE RIGHT TRACK.

    Sounds like a good idea. Teaching is very rewarding. I would do it in a heartbeat.

    In all seriousness it sounds like a good thing you're doing. Two comments.

    First, I remember when I used to get business advice and mentoring. I always felt there was some sort of disconnect in how to get "there" from "here". Its easy to talk about managing big operations, but what about the small stuff?

    Which leads me to point #2... perhaps a focus on fundamentals of good business would be helpful. Example - money management, customer relationships, working with suppliers (getting good ones, how to manage and grow those relationships). Marketing, sales, how to identify business niches and go about market research and determining whether a viable business exists.

    Maybe a special workshop on government (policy and law) compliance :)

    congrats i grew up with alot of the same type of kids and could have easily ended up in the same situation. You really are doing a very valuable service for these kids.

    My suggestions would be a. try to leave any preconcieved ideas of them at the door, some of these kids are very very smart and are very quik at picking up new knowledge and skills. b. dont talk down to them they will get defensive. c. Try to use a neutral vovab as above if they dont understand the words the will just shut off. d. You most likly wont be able to get them all cut your loses they will just bring the others down.

    thats about it for now and again i commend you on what you are doing
