The car pictured in the article which I assume is DLA12054 has the new Jalpa rear lights but with gunmetal engine cover and no exterior filler

Watch out on this car. I almost bought it in Wichita, KS. after it was listed on Craigslist. I went to see it...owner wanted $14,500...I offered $13,500. It needed a TON of work as it was rusting in several areas and would not run. Easily needed $50K worth of work.
To be fair...these issue may have been fixed since then. Just make sure the work was done properly...

I doesn't look bad from distance, but in the Details you detect a lot of work, I think the engine even had a coolant issue, looks like being abandond after a head gasket issue.
The actual seller polished here but are the weak spots still there?

I just came across an additional fact to this discussion of widely varying 0-60mph (and 0-100kph) times, namely that the speed is 64 mph in 2nd gear @7500 rpm.

In other words, an extra time consuming gearshift is needed, if the shift point is below 7300 rpm.

Early Jalpas were limited at 7400rpm, after troubles with the engines the Limit was reduced to 7000.

i watch the sales of these cars pretty closely. i feel like the hagerty valuation is a good 40k shy of what they actually show for on condition 2 cars.

a runner would sell within a day or two at 60k$ and would be a fair deal at 70-80k i think.

Coming into this, and after checking prices on early 328s (for me a logical alternative) which have a lot for sale with $80k asks, I would have thought a good Jalpa should sell for around the bracket you mention, not a runner.

But Lord knows I've been wrong on valuations before.

The Jalpa is 12069. There was an another Jalpa at the event too. Here you can see them both, 12069 on the left and 12229 on the right. The two Jalpa and the Isdera made the trip from Germany to Italy and back.

Very old picture from Stockholm (ca 1988). Note that somebody dented the car behind the door.... There is an interesting story about the car. The owner used to work for at the back office of an investment bank. They handled the conversion of stocks from bearer papers to registred papers. He and a collegue sent a lot of stocks through the system two times and managed to make a couple of million SEK (1 USD = 8.25 SEK today). Suddenly this guy turns up in a Lamborghini, wearing expensive suits and exclusive watches. Not bad for somebody working at a back office for a low salary...
