Daniel, please check also the produc Daniel, please check also the production number, stamped on the left side suspension dome. Might be 181.
Raymond, I will check the production number and let you know. Do you still have a set of the reinforced Jalpa engine mount brackets on stock?
Hi Dani, unfortunately I can't get them anymore, basically they are the same as original, just 0,1mm more thickness and yellow zynced.
Because at around VIN 200, the vin and Body number differ about ten, it was a guess. Mine was 203/193... Funny: ELA12185/#176 FLA12191/#178
It looks like the whole rear section (from behind the engine bay) is 181. Everything in front of the rear firewall 178. Maybe they hat some faulty body and they were scrapping some sections and combining the good sections?
They had to have some quality problems. Look at those factory welds! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
For me there was no rule between the Vin and the body number, it was the same on Urraco. Bodies came from the production and take after for the assembly line but no one look at the body number to take them from the first number to the late one. Is someone know the Vin from this car, very early car. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Agreed there is no direct relationship between the body number and the vin. Nevertheless the body number is directly related to the order placed for that particular body and was used to identify that order/body during assembly.
Pehaps it had a rear damage and they welded the rear section of the second (unused) jalpa spyder into it to have it fixed... Very interesting indeed.
This was our first thought too. But after looking closer we do not belief this any more from more reasons: -Such ugly welds you can find on the whole body -After dustless blasting of the whole body it is possible to see quite well if there were any repairs. We did not find any evidence of a repaired damage in this area. -The outer panels are perfect fitted and original -All spot welds look like they were done in the factory -All other joints are looking correct. -I found the same ugly welds on my 85 DD Countach
