I have given up on R&T and C&D a long time ago. Got Forza instead. I was considering Octane (the Enzo vs F40 comparison is good), but decided to go with something retro: Vintage Sports Cars
i just got it and well , its EVO. they always need to shock ! Not convinced by the article though... What i loved were the 2 letters from readers about the previous issue and the total BS answer from EVO...
A dude went out and bought a 996 GT3 RS and 360 CS in the same week to see what was best! Must be cool to be able to do that... I prefer the GT3 to the CS, I think it was a fair result.
Impressive, but if I had that cash and passion I would buy a 288 GTO and a 959 and see who wins. Probably the Porsche with its 4WD. But at least you had a race, that was supposed to happen, but unfortunately never did.
forza is ok, but i'm not really into f1 and it seems that sometimes they hilight that instead of the road/race cars. i also get classic and sports car which i like, but i don't subscribe, i just go to borders, have an orange juice, read it and if i like it, take it, if not leave it.
The january issue of EVo that I have doesn't have this comaprison. Are you sure it isn't the Feb. issue.
Ok I think this post is old enough... could you post the results now? I guess the total surprise would be that the Enzo won... It all depends on who you're thinking is goint to receive the result as a shock: For an average reader a shock winner would be anything not Enzo. For F-experts like us a shock winner would be the Enzo as we all assume it is not the most involving or rewarding.
One of the best Ferrari tests I have ever read - couldn't put it down for days. Gutted that the test was done only a few miles down the road from me although apparently it was done a few months ago. I think the reason for the F50 winning is that the car was never previously properly tested (minimal time on a track) and only now that Evo managed to get there hands on one a real comparison can be done. I reckon values of F50's have just shot up. Rick PS if anyone wants a copy sending over early then I am sure it can be arranged.

Chris, i'm sure the US guys who are still on previous issue will be very pleased with the scans. Thnks for posting. Tony
Thanks for the scan... I've been dying to read the article... probably still a month away here... haven't even seen Jan's yet. The F50 has always been my pick for most beautiful Ferrari ever... and its numbers were of course awesome... but my love of it was always dampened a bit by the prevalent opinion that it was "softer" than the rest of the Ferraris. You don't know how much I enjoyed reading an article by a group of people who not only expected it to be soft, but actually consider it an ugly Ferrari... and yet its feel and performance was such that they chose it over the rest!!! Wow!!! Now, without any reservation, I feel good about my love for the F50!
Oooo... I'm good... Feb 12th this hit the Borders here in Texas. I suspect it hit B&N with the trucks this evening... its a great issue, with not only this article, but some articles on the 288GTO Evolutionze and on Ferrari replicars. Get it quick though... most of the stores around here only get in 2 or 3 copies of Evo.
Thanks to FChatter TonyH I got it as B/W copies a while ago and thanks to another friend from the UK I finally got a copy of the mag itself. It is really, really cool. There is also an article about the 288 Evoluzione and then some more Ferrari articles about the 400i and GT/4. The photography of the lead article is stunning and the conclusion interesting. I could actually understand the thinking for choosing the F50 and was happy and stunned to see the GTO doing so well. Great article, one to put in your library.
sorry to bump yet another old thread (no, it's not a hobby ), but does anyone have the scans of this article somewhere? they're down If someone could mail them to me, it would be great my email is: kotaro dot inoue at gmail dot com thanks
What would be really nice would be a downloadable version of the video EVO has on it's site. Go and watch and listen....especially the F40 backing up. Pure music.... Go to: http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/?evo Click on Video Gallery (picture of F50) Select Ferrari Supercars from the menu and click where indicated. Click Ferrari Supercars Click in the pop up window and make sure your sound is turned up loud. If anyone can figure out how to download it, I would love to have a copy of this video. Would go great with the magazine. (Find this issue of EVO if you can....it is a great article)
right click, save as http://movies.autoexpress.co.uk/evo/Ferrari-Supercar-Test-0104.mov bump for anyone who has the scans of the article
You have a point. As much as I love the idea of a comparison between these cars, the way they went about it was highly subjective, hence the results are questionable.
