I'm surprised that nobody here has commented on Jarno's little temper tantrum at Sutil yet!

I watched the replay time and time again and saw nothing but a failed attempt at a dumb pass. You could see right when Sutil realized that Jarno was there that he stopped his line-out from the previous turn and just held his straight line down the track.

Interesting how upset Jarno was. Even during the interview part way through the race he was still rather upset and said that Sutil kept pushing him outside...

Not trying to rant on Jarno, just surprised at his response...

Funny thing is how difficult Jarno is usually to pass. What bothered me was the way Webber chopped off Kimi's front wing and destroyed his race. Webber is another guy that usually causes an accident when someone is trying to get by him.

Wasn't it Jarno that "eased" into Kubica at the Canadian GP in '07? It was good fortune and a strong tub that prevented Kubica's serious injury or death. I like him, but I though Jarno's reaction was a bit "overwrought".

On the Webber, I am afraid he is going to hurt someone. Frankly, I think if it was someone other than Kimi he pulled that move on that, Webber's race would have been over. I find Kimi's reactions otherworldly in so many cases.

Overall, I thought the race had some pretty brash driving all around.

Truli is realizing he's hitting the end of a rather lack luster F1 career without a confirmed seat for next year. Emotions are high, and in this particular case they were entirely unjustified against Sutil. Hopefully no one bought Jarno's act and they give Sutil his seat at Toyota for 2010.

Webber moved over once, which he is allowed to do. That toyota dude was weaving infront of Naka. Not the same thing.

I agree about Kamakazi Kobuyshi (SP?) weaving all over the place. I just mentioned Webber, as he has a habit of having an unusually wide car. I think the broadcasters on Speed missed it, when he moved over on Kimi's front wing.

    Hey Tony,
You know the drill, if it wasn't getting dark so early it would still be summer!

I still would like to see Jarno on the grid next year. Perhaps that's just me showing my age and resisting change, plus I have always liked Jarno's personality. But looking at young guns Sutil, Hami, Kubica, Vettel, Rosberg and a few others in addition to the veterans who are still getting good results, I'm not sure we won't be seeing Jarno's last F1 race two weeks from now. His rant to Sutil didn't help his case for a drive, I don't think anyone saw it the way he did, even given the fact that Sutil hasn't kept his nose that clean lately either.

As far as Webber making a "firm" move as he put it, I would be fine with it if he could distinguish b/t a firm move and one that can only result in contact. He might be allowed one move to block, but he seems to have no depth perception on closing speeds.

    That reminds me of something.

Remember in Suzuka how Button was asked (on radio) if he could take Kovalainen if Sutil weren't there? Button said yes. This was when Sutil was right on Kovi, and Button was a few car lengths back! At first blush it seemed ridiculous given that he was so far back, and you might think it was either wishful thinking or some kind of code, but even then at the time I thought he might intentionally be maintaining the gap because he suspected Sutil might do something stupid (he does tend to get into trouble) what with Kovi right there, and didn't want to be collected. Of course later on in the race Sutil indeed did botch things up attempting a pass. I know in my racing I keep a gap on people fighting for position if I know the driver tends to have problems passing.

I agree with you Tony. Hobbs actually mentioned something to the effect that Webber is always the first to complain about such moves but also does them himself. I also remember him pushing Massa all the way to the wall in one race this year and hitting RB at the start of another.

meh...You all know im a huge fan of Kimi but to me this was just a racing incident. If penalties would be handed out once again I'm sure even more people would stop watching since all forms of passing would soon be banned otherwise.

Webber is know for moving all the way over. Kimi tried to squeeze down the inside but I reckon webber didn't expect Kimi so quickly by his side (thats KERS for you) hence Kimi lost his wing.

Simple racing incident, same as with trulli.

Haven't evaluated the Kobayashi - nakajima incident so don't know about that.

Me too, I never liked him before and I will never like him.

Webber and Glock are both non-existent to me.

The only way I will like them is if they take each other out. :)

To be fair to Webber he made one move, drifting into Kimi's path and Kimi couldn't get off the gas quick enough, so as others have said, a racing incident.

However, I totally agree with You about how he normally reacts to someone trying to overtake him. I've lost count of the number of times I've watched him deliberately drive at someone trying to overtake him, trying to force them off the road and yet he never seems to get any punishment for it!.

As the GPDA president he´s always complaining about safety. And that´s fine, but then he makes such kind of moves. Go figure.

He's always the first to talk about safety, and always the first one to cry to Charlie Whiting when it rains, asking the race to be stopped.

I completely agree. Webber is a dirty dirty driver. He is said to have "the widest car in F1".

Sometimes driving hard to keep your place is admirable... but when you intentionally run into another driver, you deserve a penalty.

Webber should have been DQ'ed from the results for that move. And much as I like his talent, Kobayashi should have too. What he did to Nakajima, while entertaining to watch them racing, was very dangerous and could have resulted in serious injury or worse.

Intentionally running into someone is never OK.

You are allowed to make a defensive move, but you are not allowed to move INTO someone else's car.

Webber moved over and clipped Kimi's wing. It is Webbers responsibility to ensure that moving over isn't going to cause contact, which he failed to do. Webber deserved a penalty for that move, as did Kobayashi.

I was very impressed by Kobayashi. I thought it was strange that Howett of Toyota said he didn't have pace? It seems that he was doing really well to me, but they seemed to think he was off the pace. That kid has some fire... and that makes for very interesting racing. Sato had fire too, but couldn't temper it with talent and maturity not to go off track or crash into people blatantly. Kobi was very aggressive, but didn't seem to put a foot wrong, other than the Kaz incident.

I hope we will see more of Kobi in the races to come.
