And in a similar story, here's somebody that I'm glad to say is an EX-Bear: Jay Cutler to retire . . . again.

Shame he never got a ring. Sort of the Dan Marino of Tight Ends.

Jay Cutler had to actually "play" to retire.

He was retired before his career began

They should fit him for a gold jacket now. Just so they're ready. Alas, the teams he played on were quite often lacking...T

Lol. You're in mid season form Mike!
Gonna need a new whipping boy if Jay stays retired.

Believe it or not, Cutler owns almost all of the Chicago BEARS passing stats now. He was the best QB, stat-wise, since Jim McMahon. Still, not enough wins to show for it and he was a bit injury prone.

Congratulations to Whitten on a sensational career. He was an Eagles killer but tough as nails. Wishing him well although the bar set by ESPN for former players is not particularly high.

One more brick out of the wall for Dallas. Oh well, at least we will be 30 million below the salary cap next year. Not that cheapskate Stephen will spend any of it unless it involves the Arkansas Razorbacks.

He is definitely a class act. I would have hoped for his sake he got a ring but it sure doesn't take away from his career. Wish him the best.

Ace...You know I love most of your posts, but that's a tad unfair. Witten - like Romo - had the misfortune to be on largely mediocre teams. While you can argue that a great QB can lift the talent level around him (e.g., your very own Joe Montana!), there's not much even the greatest TE can do.

Tony Gonzalez - zero Super Bowls
Antonio Gates - zero Super Bowls

Same boat, but as QB, definitely he gets a bigger share of the blame than Witten...T

As a Giants fan, you should pray Romo comes out of retirement and returns as the starting QB for Dallas :p j/k....

Never before and never again will a Cowboys QB be better for Giants Stadium. He was responsible for one of the greatest taunt chants ever. Romos a h... It will never be topped.
