I'm surprised they haven't netted the windows. Even if it isn't period correct, watching the rollover my first thought was: "Jay is going to lose an arm"
This could have been the final entry on Jay's Bucket List. Probably a weight-distribution thing. I'm also surprised that the rear window didn't break.
Same thoughts here. Also, the driver should have turned those rubber band front tires into the skid. Who know, it might have made a difference.
I doubt that would have made much of a difference since the rear tires run such low pressure and dig into the asphalt as the car rotates. What I find most surprising is that anyone familiar with the infield of the track didn't warn them of that large rise in the road.
That'll get your attention. Really poor choice of venue for that little excursion. Need lots of straight, level shut down road for anything running those big barely inflated slicks. Glad they are okay, car doesn't look too bad either. Wonder if this is the first time on its roof.
Bob said he'd need to find a new body in the vid. Also said he's only wrecked twice now... other one was decades ago.
I see. No sound on this computer. There were/ are several of these cars built, probably a few more now than then. Riggles didn't look too upset so I'm guessing this one had no period provenance. This wrecked body would sure make a great conversation piece.
That's not gonna buff out. And I betcha Jay Leno's producers think twice before they let him do another crazy ass ride along. D
I've watched Bob Riggle and the Hemi Under Glass since I'm a child. I have a photo of him from when he (and I) were much younger. Glad to see he's still the driver, but I was really bummed when I saw the car flip...that sucked. Happy they are all ok.
I remember seeing the clip of Jay rolling over from the dash cam on their intro to the new season on CNBC some weeks ago. Just took them a while to air the episode...crazy stuff. They got lucky...if anyone rolls over like that, I recommend you not get out and walk around. You need a c-collar and scanned at an ED to make sure you didn't break anything or have an intracranial bleed. I see CT scans with broken spines from rollovers regularly. One guy thought he was ok at the crash site...Got up and walked before ems put him on a board with c-collar and the weight bearing of standing up alone pushed the fracture fragments into his spinal canal and he became paralyzed.
