I tried some JB weld on an aluminum scrap pipe and it seems to be a very tight and strong patch. Can anyone advise me if it works well on the aluminum coolant pipe to fix a leak.

Russ I've used JB over the years and it works well for lots of repairs but, I never had any luck on cooling systems it will eventually crack off. I think its because of heat/cold/presure cycles, it dosen't seem to work well for extented times. I think your better off to have someone weld the crack, hole etc. Regards, Vern

Jut bring it to a good welder or send it out to us to have it patched the correct way.

I patched a cracked BMW 635 aluminum oil pan with JB weld...stopped the leaking and held up.

I agree with Vern. Try and get the pipe fixed properly. But if you need the JB to get you out of trouble,by all means use it. I have used it to patch a big crack in a very very expensive aluminium Audi engine oil sump, around 5 years ago,and its still goin strong. And have used it many times for cylinder head cracks(at owners request, cheap fix) And suprisingly, they are still driving around without any issues. The 1st one being as long as 6 years ago maybe...?? And many times after that :)

Agreed I've used it before on other stuff and works great but, it seems on radiators maybe because the temp changes and presure expansion it moves too much. Man I don't know if I would trust glue to hold in my oil. LOL regards, Vern
