There was an FIA meeting going on in Nepal when the big earthquake his this weekend, all FIA members are said to be OK. Jean Todt and FIA delegates 'safe and accounted for' after Nepal earthquake Slow news day waiting for Grand Prix of Spain, and a great tragedy in Nepal. Without the earthquake I don't know if anyone would have talked about the FIA meeting there.
So does this mean that Nepal will not be on the 2017 F1 calendar? Or, will the Grand Prix of the Himalayas be moved to Bhutan?
From the article: "The FIA has confirmed president Jean Todt and 44 other delegates from motorsport's governing body are "safe and accounted for" after attending a convention in the earthquake-hit city of Kathmandu in Nepal. The group had been attending the first Asia-Pacific Sport Regional Congress when the 7.8 magnitude earthquake struck an area of central Nepal between Kathmandu and the city of Pokhara. It has been followed by a number of aftershocks and the rising death toll currently exceeds 2,000."
Given his current tenure seems to be dedicated to swerving away from trouble is it any wonder 'Teflon Todt' has managed not to be affected by the earthquake....
Todt has more lives than a cat. When he was doing the Paris-Dakar with Peugeot, his helicopter crashed and he was the only survivor. When the rescue team arrived to the site of the accident, Todt was calmly waiting for them while playing Tetris with his Nintendo Game Boy.
