Anybody with any thoughts on the new 4 door Jeep Wrangler? I looked at one (but did not test drive it) this weekend--it is nicer and MUCH bigger inside (though still clearly a Wrangler). Its attractions are significant off road ability plus its a convertible.

I love Jeep, and it seems that DC has really stepped up quality in recent years, though the Jeeps have never really been affected by DC quality issues.

I REALLY would like to buy one. A 4-door Wrangler? Deal sealed. I heard that the interior is much improved. I wish I could buy one, *sigh.* Hey, if they are still hurting by next year and I can get a great deal, then maybe I will. I can just see my 4-door Jeep filled up with hot chick, tops off...

I've looked at them & will be buying one within the next 6 months. I used to own a 2 door version & the 4 door version makes it perfect for me. I'm excited.

I had a 1974 CJ5 in my youth.....what a complete piece of crap! That said, the quality has to have improved (the mid-70's were a very financially trying time in Jeep/AMC's history).

I saw the ad the other night and told my wife that I would probably get the new Unlimited.....great to get the top off and it is still a 4 door so it qualifies as a 'family' in my wife's mind. I think they still use the same I-6 that had tons of torque.

The new Wrangler actually did away with the inline 6. It has been replaced by a more powerful V6. Jeeps werent the best until around 86-87 when Chrysler took the brand over from AM, and introduced the inline 6.

Should be a winner. It looks great, and my biggest gripe with the Wrangler was the awful ride quality onroad due to the short wheelbase. The new model should be more liveable around town.

I've had a GC and Liberty, and quality has been good on both except for minor recalls.

I bought a loaded Unlimited Sahara a few weeks ago. It is a great looking and riding truck. Much improved over the older models. Feels very solid. Still feels wanting for power though despite the new V6. But now you get power windows and door locks and can comfortably fit 3 people in the rear. Interior looks great. The hard top with removable panels over the front seats is a great idea also. It also attracts more attention than my Ferrari.

    Pictures?

I honestly hate Wranglers. Maybe its the cold canadian winters, but they are a ***** to heat up the cabin.

Just saw my first Unlimited upclose; it was a "Rescue Green" Sahara. This will definitely be the vehicle that replaces my Jeep Liberty in the next year or so (unless the Powerball sends an F-car my way). Not being an offroader and not in the snow belt, I'm happy to see that a 2WD version is available. Quality control issue...the "d" was missing from the "Unlimited" badge behind the front driver's side tire. I sold Jeeps in the early 90s and we frequently recieved 2WD Cherokees with the chrome "4X4" on the side.
