Nick Fry, the chief executive of Brawn, confirmed the details after Jenson Button took the chequered flag at the Australian Grand Prix, helping his team to the most successful Formula One debut in 55 years.

Brawn has replaced Honda after its principal Ross Brawn and Mr Fry led a management buyout.

Mr Fry said: "Its about 270 (job losses). We are about 700 people at the moment and we talked to the staff about going down to about 430, something like that, which is where we [predecessors BAR] were in 2004," said Fry

270 jobs!! shame but thats life :(

I hope I don't have to wait another 150 GP's by Button to see another win.

Sir Richard Branson could cough up a few more Pence.
His arrival and those $50 buck stickers sure got him some cheap publicity. Tightwad.

The thought did occur to me, is it down hill from here, however I hope the Virgin cash is flowing, because am damn sure they will need it to keep abreast.

I know better than to expect lighting to strike twice in the same spot. That next shipment of engines, I expect will be a few HP down.

Guys, I am not sure about this one, but where Honda Engine Personnel at the factory? Because with the Mercedes Engine unit I can see them not needing that many people, just guessing.

When honda announced the team's availability, they removed all engine and transmissions from the factory same day. They were supported by staff in the factory but not built there.

Some layoff may be in the fitting departments, but they haven't specified.
