I've been a big fan of Eagle for years, ever since I saw Jeremy drive an Eagle modified/moderized E-Type alongside a similarly done up Aston Martin DB5 from Aston's restoration program on Top Gear, an eon ago. When I saw the first Eagle Speedster a couple years ago I was stunned into deep and aching desire for this car.

Having just watched Jezza's new-esque DVD, Powered Up, I am most pleased.

In the middle of flogging an LP570 Spyder Performante, an MP4-12C, a 458, an FF, a GT2RS, a GTR, the BAC Mono (Britain's latest track toy you can drive to the track) and the mighty Jetta around Paul Ricard circuit, he fecks off into the mountains of southern France to wax poetic for 10 minutes about the Eagle Speedster, and then for a cool down he also did 10 minutes on that modernized Jensen Interceptor he also drove last series on Top Gear.

As a petrolhead in general Jeremy's DVDs are really just candy. They're mostly the same, he goes to a circuit, takes the coolest stuff he drove in the previous two series' of Top Gear and spends a little more time with them.

But this one is a little different.

Because there are only two Eagle Speedsters in existence, and because to have another one built would cost over half a million dollars, these two are likely to be the only ones ever built. As such, the likely hood of ever seeing one in person is nil. Not slim. Zip. Zero. No Way. Never.

What Jezza has given us, between Top Gear and Powered Up is 15 minutes of the most beautiful car that ever has been, or ever will be built.

They're documents of automotive art history.

Edit: Oh, and that 46 liter, airplane-engined, 1908 monstrosity is MINDBLOWING. You really can drift anything...
