I'm not interested in watching TV or anything in 3d; just want it as a switchable option for my dedicated home theater room. I might even consider buying the commercial setup that the theater is using to project Avatar currently. Does whoever manufactures that equipment sell to residential users? Shoot, even if I could buy the setup, could I get a copy of avatar (or other theater run 3D movies) to show on it?

They'll sell it to you ( since everyone is waiting for new technology, you might get a deal on the current systems) but you won't be able to get any content. The studios are super paranoid about piracy and the hard drives are encoded to a specific server/projector, without the digital keys it won't play. The server just sits there with a little padlock on the title. Unless you've got serious connections, I doubt you could get authorization and a key.
Also the machines are big and hot and have lots of fan noise, so you'd need to build a booth for them. On a small (16') screen they are absolutely blindingly bright, but you can turn them down if you need to. With 3D though, the problem is getting enough light on the screen. The filters and glasses suck huge amounts of light from the system.

Porn in 3D! LMAO! That just sounds hilarious.

Am I the only one that 3D sort of makes dizzy and gives a headache? I actually sort of wish Avatar hadn't been in 3D.

Well, you could always just hire a girl. That's about as 3D as it gets!

I haven't seen it yet, but nearly every 3D movie I've ever seen has done exactly the same thing to me... I wear glasses, and I thought it was just me...

Between 9-11% of people have trouble with 3D. That doesn't include not liking the glasses.

You didn't have to see it in 3D, it was offered all over the place in 2D as well.
