Jihad jacks conviction was just overturned by the Court of Appeal.

The following is my understanding of what was admitted and is not in dispute.
Jack spent from 2001 through 2003 in Afghanistan and Pakistan training with the Taliban. He recieved money and an airline ticket from a senior al-Qaeda official, to return to Australia and his passport was doctored in an attempt to hide the length of his stay.
He was detained and interviewed by Pakistani authorities in conjuction with Australian ASIO investigators. The confessions given at the time, which were later used for his criminal prosecution in Australia have deemed to be inadmissable on the basis that , not that he was tortured, forced to sign documents unwillingly etc, but simply because he was told that, his fate would be determined by the extent of his co-operation.
Whils on bail in Australia, in an interview with the ABC, he further admitted to the truth and accuracy of his original confessions.
The prosecution is now putting material before the Appeals Court to re-try the case based on his confessions in the ABC interviews, but it is by no means a sure thing.
How do we tolerate people like this, who threaten our very way of life? Worse still, how the hell did he only get a 2 year minimum sentence in the first place???
