    Hi,
    just wondering , do banks hire anyone with a degree in finance at the age of 33 to 36yrs. Someone with no bank experience but wants to join and learn?
    Is there a law that descrimates hiring older workers?

    Let me know your thoughs guys, and appreciate the feedback.

    IB's are very selective on who they hire and when they hire people w/o experience, it's usually MBA's from top b-schools. And w/ the shrinkage in the financial sector, they have become even more selective.
    It also helps to have these abilities:
    1. Talk out of both sides of your mouth
    2. Straddle the moral/ethics line
    3. Plead the 5th in front of Congress.

    I don't think age will be your problem. I have several friends at various IBs and their key was experience. They all did at least one IB internship during college.

    Thanks for the well wishes, and yes! I do have a masters,

    would give it a try :)

    In Spore its diff, almost impossible to break into IB unless you are connected at my age! well.. thats the diff between the west and asia .. my 2 cents.

    There is a law in the US that prevents employers from discriminating against older workers, but at 36 I'm pretty sure you don't make the cut.
