Sat in the passenger seat of an Esprit turbo with him driving once round Hethel test track. Really nice guy with a great sense of humour.
So unpaid Stewards are not compatible with the FIA Dictator if they hold a 'day job' to be paid for their racing experience/insights. Sounds about right for a poorly run FIA that has flushed talent all last year and still does not want paid professional Stewards. Im in Dubai the home of the dictator in question, there are lots of construction jobs here he can fill with this pathetic management skill! Certainly he wont be missed when he leaves or is tossed out in an election. He can get back to work in the port management company his family owns. At least the containers wont run away lol.
The problem with Johnny is not that he holds a day job, the problem with Johnny is that he frequently has shown his bias in said day job. He also works for a gambling site, which by itself brings into question ANY judgement call he makes. I met him at Silverstone 2007 on the Friday, he stopped his golfcart and spend a decent 20 or so minutes talking with the fans.
