Hi To All, I wanted to let you know my "Uncle Johnny", John Corbani, passed away very early this morning. I am sure you would all want to know since he was such a big part of this forum. I have attached the email (below) I received this morning from his wife Candi, and I will provide more information as I receive it. Thank you! Andy Lausten "John passed away early this morning at Cottage Hospital peacefully. Loretta (sister) was staying in the room and said the Rosary for him. Donna and Raymond (daughter and son-in-law) got to see him before he passed. Susan (sister) is on her way by bus. Loretta, Mary and Rose (sisters) were near him near the end as was I. He received excellent treatment by medical staff. His long battle is over. We will all miss him. Love, Candi oxoxox"
OMG. Obviously never met but always came across as a true gentleman on this forum with a great and wide depth of knowledge never to be forgotten and will be Hugely missed here. R I P John.
Here from France, I'm very sad to hear that. I went often through the 246 threads to read John's usefull and precious advices. We will all miss him very much. "Au revoir John..."
*wiping tears* I am deeply saddened to hear this news, his last messages posted to all of us here, led me to feel the end was near. My father battled the same fight, so I knew the phases.. I am glad he enjoyed his last Holiday Season with those he loved so deeply.... I really don't know what to say, except you have my heartfelt condolences upon your loss. Many thanks for taking time to tell us here, we cared about him very much....... My thoughts and prayers are with you. There's a lot of good Ferrari guys already in Heaven, and they are joined now by one more.
I am deeply saddened, as I am sure all readers of this Forum are, to learn of the passing of John Corbani. I only joined late last August, but found in John not only a true gentleman, but a scholar with a love of his subject matter, and one who was always willing to assist another member in any way possible. His many tutorials will be a constant source of much-needed information for all who strive to preserve the Dino as a manifestation of the best that Ferrari has had to offer. People such as John Corbani ennoble our automotive passion, and remind us that we and our fellow Dino admirers are a brotherhood of kindred spirits. Paraphrasing the memorial program of a dear friend and fellow "car guy" who died last summer, James E. Williams (automotive author, sports car and motorcycle racer and former assistant editor of "Car and Driver" magazine): "Heaven is suddenly a lot faster now that John is there." God speed, John. I send my deepest condolences to John's wife Candi, his daughter Donna, the rest of his beloved family and his many friends. Sadly, Fred Infantino
My condolences. I met John at Bella Italia in San Diego last year when he received an award for his 246, and he was a real gentleman and enthusiast. He definitely made me proud to be part of the classic Ferrari community.
wow, two really cool 'car guys' I didn't know personally, but I know of, with loads of respect from many have passed recently, very sad. RIP
RIP, John. Truly saddened, but the inevitable, all things must pass. Your knowledge and presence would be missed sorely, but your spirit is with us. Thank You and my condolences to your loved ones. Jimmy
RIP. Always sad to hear when somebody passes. He was a big part of FChat and it's nice to know he is permanently memorialized here in the Corbani's Corner thread.
Although I never met John or his family his inclusive style of writing gave us all the opportunity to "know them" We never spoke and yet by email he gave me advice on several things. His courage and manner in which he dealt with his lot are an example to us all. God Bless to Candi, Donna and all the Corbani family David
John was such a great guy. I had the pleasure of meeting him a few times, the first was at a Ferrari lunch in Santa Barbara. Then at Avila Beach and a show in Ventura. He was a true Ferrari enthusiast. RIP
My condolences to the family. I read the vintage & dino threds everyday and allways enjoyed his sagas. He will be missed. Gavin
Reading his wonderful posts and seeing his pictures made me regret even more selling my 246 GT. His legacy of being a true Ferrari gentleman will live on. He showed remarkable strength and enthusiasm in the face of a tragic condition .. we all can learn a lesson from him. RIP John.
I never met John and I never owned a dino, or knew about how to fix them, but John taught me all about them. I always enjoyed reading his posts, and hearing about how the Dino was his daily driver. Also, the fact he did as much of his own work that he could. This is upsetting especially after he just finished the repaint of his car not too long ago, and he has recently been unable to drive. Over the years I have probably read all of his posts, and they made me appreciate Dino's and Ferrari's more (Not to mention WARM WEATHER!). RIP Erik
I doubt very much that his contributions to this forum, his energy or his enthusiasm will ever be equalled. I'm sure that I speak for many here when I say that although we never met, I feel that I've lost a friend.
