CNN is reporting that he passed away today at age 80.

You may or may not have liked his cars or his legal team, but the man had character!

I was always a huge fan of the DeLorean. It didn't perform. It was a major economic failure. But it always did it for me.

Shame-- as you said, not a great car, but had presence and character.. Any man willing to sell 10's of millions in coke to save his car company is an a-okay car enthusiast in my book! :)

Character? You obviously have a different definition of that word than I do. If anyone lacked character it was John DeLorean. Now if you said charisma, I'd agree..

Just read his autobiography a month ago. It was a fairly interesting read, I didn't know anything about him until I read it, cause I was a little kid when all that was going on. Like most kids my age, the first time I ever saw a Delorean was in Back to the Future.

Read in his obituary this morning that he ruffled quite a few feathers at GM when he drove a Maserati instead of a Vette. Kind of like if Ray Crock was seen eating at Burger King

It truly sucks. I'm definitely not a Delorean fan, but I am a muscle car nut - even more so than Ferrari. The man was one of the greatest men in the industry; after all, he created the muscle car. Truly sad to see him go.
