I know that he has been lightly touched on in the Mislaid Ring thread, but i wanted to know if anyone here believed? He is currently down here in Sydney doing a show, with all the proceeds going to the Sydney Childrens Hospital. Good on him for that, but still, i think he "trades of grief".

For a man that charges $750 per 15min, with waiting lists of 2 years, i find it hard to imagine that he aint laughing to the bank......

    Thoughts?

I think he is full of crap and anyone that would pay him that much for $15 minutes should invest that money into a therapist.

Lets say that if only he worked for 3 months of the year, 40 hours a week, he would make 120k a week, 14.4M for the quarter......

I'm still not sure. Some people have a nack for something, sometimes a feeling. If you aren't too sure about the subject, pick up his book. It's an interesting read about how he didn't really want to get into this kind of business as a business, but just had a nack for it.

Thanks for the link and all, but isnt that the whole point?

Ill go pick up his book, but thats more $$ in his pocket. I suppose, threads like this inspire interest in him, and it will eventually make him money down the track. People will buy his book, attend his shows to prove him wrong, even go for a private consultation to prove him wrong.....its nevers stops.

Alot of people will believe in someone that can bring back a loved one....

Not necessarily. It isn't about bringing back, but more about connecting with something familiar that you are no longer able to. Looking at it from a business perspective, the target market is right up there with those that say you can have one billion dollars; Nigerian / 419 scams and the like. However, no matter what the dollar amount is, at least the audience members that are participants get some piece of mind. Hopefully in a positive way. That said, is it any better than other scammers? I'd say so.

btw, if you don't want to buy the book, libraries are still free, or it is 99cents plus shipping from amazon zshops.

    Hhhmm...
It does bring a postive outlook for the participant no doubt, but morally, that is the so ******** wrong. Playing on peoples minds, and assuring them that all is well, is okay, but making the $$ out of it is wrong. IMO of course.

Have you seen the Soprano's episode with Pauly in the room with the medium and there was about 10 demons around him of people that he has knocked off over the years. And the medium talks to one, and pauly throws a chair at it! Funny scene!

The afterlife is something that is entirely unknown, but speculated on for years and years. This particular argument of playing with "people's minds and assuring them that all is well" could also be an argument against any church as well. While there is history and more followers with various religions, this doesn't have a specific following, only gypsies or the like, in various small groups here and there. What this guy has done is put it into a forum, and someplace where people can see what he's doing.

Degrees of what is morally wrong varies on the actual issue. IMO, it might be morally wrong to others, but the visitors to the show and those that are 'read' in a matter of speaking, go away with something very positive. That in itself shouldn't be condoned.

As for what is morally objectionable, how about spyware that others load onto user's systems, creating drones of spamming pc's out on there, or even just applications that watch their every move and keystroke, displaying ads and gathering information about them. That would be morally wrong too, right? Especially if they didn't even know it, nor find any pleasure from it.

Okay Randy, good points all over the place. I dont have a patricular issue with the whole "afterlife" concept, not the church, or even spyware (today)...

But this guy is RAKING that $$ in beyond belief. But then again, so is the church i guess. And this brings in another issue which i have no intention of brushing on here, but you could imagine the arguments for and against.....

Its said, that on his shows, the actual filimg last about 2-3 hours, while the shows lasts about 1/4 of that time. They edit stuff around for the show, like all the positive responses and nods of the ausidence.. That in itself makes me skeptical...

"Im feeling an "S" anyone in this thread have anyone in here have a relative that has a name that begins with the letter "S" anyone? Stephanie? Sandra? Sylvia? Anyone? She is telling me right now that she misses you and she is doing well. Did she die in some accident? Because that's what she's telling me right now."

IMHO, I think John Edwards and everyone else, including Sylvia Brown are full of it. No guessing games with me; if Im going to be a believer he better come in my face by himself and ask me upfront "Do you have a grandmother who recently passed away after a long struggle with liver disease?" and then i'll believe you.

In the meantime, i'm not buying into them.

And Mr Edwards obviously doesn't channel in to FerrariChat as he hasn't advised me as yet, where my bequeathed/mislaid gold horseshoe ring is located?

Yo, huge Sopranos fan here... I don't remember that scene, and I've seen every episode at least twice... Am I losing it because the Sopranos hasn't been on for a while, or did you Aussies see a scene we didn't? :D

    Dont you remember that one?
You remember that guy that was like Junior's aid, "Mikey" wasnt it?

Anyway, remember how he went out for a run and then Chrissy and Pauly chased him through the forest, and Pauly got slowed down because he ran into a poison ivy plant, and Chris went nuts just pounding bullets into that Mikey guy?

Anyways, Pauly was at the Medium hearing, and that Mikey demon was there with him? And the demon asked if he still is itching from the poison ivy..

    You remember that?

you guys always crack me up!
If he charges only $750/15min for a candidate that almost won the Vice Presidency that is CHEAP!!!
You should see what Mumbly Joe...ah whats his name...Dole charges.
You should see what past Presidents get for appearance. That can range at about $250,000 per appearance of 45min, which would make it about 100times that of J Edwards. Oh yes, they are booked for years as well.

It is funny how political party orientation changes thoughts and views from one moment to the next. Too funny to watch! :)

I think you're confusing John Edward: self proclaimed 'talk to the dead' medium / professional b.s. artist / white collar con man / http://www.johnedward.net/

with John Edwards: Kerry's ex running mate.

    Easy mistake to make.

As for Edward: it's quite clear he prays on the distressed and grieving to fund his charlatanism. Anyone who forks out $750 bucks for a 15 minute session that doesn't involve a blowjob is getting screwed in the wrong way.
