After a while of following threads on this forum. I'm happy to report that I have finally been able to realize a childhood dream and acquire a 86 TR. :)

Folks here have been a great resource and inspiration. Thank you very much!

Have a long way to go with car. The car has 52k miles and first task on hand is the major engine out service.

Welcome to the club! Black is stunning! Don't mind all the guys on here poking fun at the single mirror my guess is they're all old and can't turn their necks far enough to see behind them and thats why they bought those goofy looking cars with two mirrors ;)
I have the exact car as yours and have just completed the diff and am in the midst of doing the major service. This site is both informative and confusing but no question will go without someone offering some guidance. Also, learn how to use the search function as ever question you could ask has already been answered on this site at some point in time.

Congrats- My buddy is like you, finally got a TR after all the years at wanting one since we were in school. He says it's a 'life changer'.

Hope you get to find the same joy he does ;)

Seems like a lot of folks getting in. So with so many getting in, who's getting out?

Make that four! Well, mine's an '85 but close enough.

Let's hear the story of how you found this car and some of the background.

Mine needed a service too and it's taken me almost a year to finish! Of course a new baby and new house happening in that year had a lot to do with it.

Welcome to the single mirror club...flaunt your monospecchio with pride! :)

Black, single bolt wheels with flying mirror - perfect combination....

Once you`ve done the major service it should run really sweet with 52,000 miles on the clock - just nicely run in :) - and enough for any niggles to have been ironed out, so you can enjoy it to the full!

    Dom.

The hunt ended up being anticlimactic. After years of looking this one popped up on the local cl and like they say the rest was history. The gentleman I bought it from was a driver too. He loved this car and had cared for and driven it for almost 10 years.

On the major service. Yup a long way to go on this one. Thinking about doing the diff as well(if it hasn't been replaced already).

Thinking about getting it Classiche certified. Any thoughts/experiences on going through this process?

I went black once......I will never go back. I've sworn off black cars for good with one single exception--if I ever ended up buying a JPS Esprit. That's it.

Looks like you are in the Seattle area. April 4, weather permitting, is the opening date for Exotics at Redmond Town Center, the local cars & coffee. There should be many Ferraris plus loads of other interesting cars. If you are unfamiliar with ERTC, google it - they have a website and an informative facebook page that you don't have to log into facebook to view. Hope to see you there. Opening day last year was crowded so if you can make it, best to be there by 8:30 to 9:00.

Congrats, enjoy her in good health.

I heard the guys with single mirror wear out right front tire from excess left turns as the manual does not have instruction how to make right turns since the car was missing the second mirror. LOL.
