I will endeavour to post pics along the way. 28th April - Amsterdam to Dijon, then via Vienne and Sabran to the Riviera, visiting the Monaco Historic Grand Prix on 1st and 2nd May. Then Portofino, Appenine mountains, Maranello, factory visit. Mille Miglia Tribute (6 - 9th), then Como lake. Alsace (Bugatti Museum), then Schwarzwald and via the Eifel back to Amsterdam (12th). I love Europe! Onno
Onno, Sounds like a fantastic trip. What day and time is your factory visit? Coincidentally I will be there [w/o my GTC] on May 3rd at 10 AM. The following weekend I plan to go to Barcelona for the F1 race. Would be nice to meet another fellow GTC owner while in Maranello. My car is getting very close to the rebuild finish line. Everything 'cept carbs are back in the car so 9593 should be on the road in a couple of weeks time. best Steve
Damn, Onno, living the life, eh? Fantastic trip! While in south-west Germany, make sure to visit the Sinsheim and Speyer museums, see my (lenghty) thread in the Silver forum.
Well, we're on our way. Left Amsterdam yesterday and overnighted in the vicinity of Dijon. Car humming like a bumble-bee, very nice to drive on these twisty roads, and with spring having erupted and the weather beautiful it does not get better than this. The hotel (L'Abbaye de la Bussiere) is a triumph, an old abbey with lovely grounds. On the way to the Provence today, then onto the Cote d'Azur. Hope to see some of you next week at the Mille Miglia. Interior of the hotel is spectacular too! Oldest parts date back to the 12th century. Onno Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Cool update Onno!! Hotel looks fantastic! The weather looks less nice next week in Italy sadly, but maybe it will get better...
Great pictures, Onno! Doesn't your beautiful car look just so natural, with its trunk full of luggage and on a mulitiple day road trip away from home? That's what these cars were made for!
Darn! 2 inch rock fell off an oncoming truck onto my windscreen! Two serious pits in it - we're trying to sort out a CarGlass repair and then we'll see how she holds. At least we're on our way to Italy... Onno
I didn't see any FIA big-wigs, so probably not. Here's more info. http://www.abbayedelabussiere.fr/ Onno

Jazzy, I am jealous. I have got to get my GTC over the pond for a tour. I thought I remember you saying you have a factory tour coming up. If so when? I am going to be in Maranello Sunday for a Monday tour. best Steve Cantera
Hi Steve, I'll be arriving in Maranello on Monday (doing the tour on Tuesday). If you're keen, we can meet up for a drink or something! I'll send you a PM. Onno
Hi Onno, Thanks for making us part of your trip, your photos are great, as usual. Pity about the windscreen, but think about it, you could have been in a barchetta with worse consequences. The screen can be replaced. There used to be the Novus repair method, which filles the hole in the outer layer with a resin, so at least for the moment your wiper blades last a little longer than 5 minutes before they are torn to shreds. Keep the shiny side up! Jack.
Hi Jack, I've covered the damage with tape. It was raining yesterday and it seems to be doing the job, wipers don't mess with the tape and the pitts are stable. If the car would make it through MM Tribute scrutineering (don't know whether it will or not), I would not be worried about it fixing it until after I get back. In the meantime the Lucas regulator is not fixed yet because of the weekend and today I'll finally make it to Maranello and drop in at Toni's to get it sorted out hopefully. At least the view is lovely out of my window this morning, see below, but that drive into Portofino is stressful in a car like this!! It is 3 - 4m wide (2-way!) and lots of idioting hire car drivers... Onno Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Hi Onno, Fingers crossed that the tape will hold, and even more that scruteneering will let you pass! What regulator problem? (sorry if I missed it) I know you're in Ferrari country, but often you find these parts to be common with Jaguar of the day, and thery may be a little easier to source. If you're talking about the voltage stabilizer (Lucas C4 unit), I had one in my hand yesterday. It's a little far to come bring it though... (I wish!) In the meantime, it appears that we're enjoying somewhat better weather here than it is there. I hope it changes soon. Enjoy!
