Good luck Onno and thanks for the pictures.
Let me know when it becomes too much to bear I'd be glad to take some of the load off of you. Its great to see the car out doing what its best at. Giving joy. David
Yes, that's the one (I think - Lucas anyway). I was at Toni Auto today, the specialist in classic Ferraris across the factory gate, and they couldn't help me! I was flummoxed. I know that they're supposed to be common on '60ies cars, but everyone I've asked so far is looking at me like I'm from Mars when I say I want to buy one of those things. But there are 2 on the way from Holland, being brought in by an MM participant on Wednesday so that should be alright. I'm also visiting Ferrari Classiche tomorrow, perhaps they can help (I like hedging!). The weather's lovely here, quite unexpected. I hope that it holds for the next couple of days, it was projected to be quite bad. Reggio Nell'Emilia is quite a nice town, and I even managed to score a chronometer! So not all bad news. Battery is charging and hopefully all will be sorted out before the big day on Thursday! Here's the view I'm looking at right now! Onno Image Unavailable, Please Login
Onno, I toured Classiche today. Some very nice cars in their shop.....250 Series 1 cab, 2 lussos, 2 SWBs, 750 monza, 330 TRI - the Phill Hill 24 hr Lemans winner....much more. I know you will appreciate the visit. Will try to ring you tomorrow. I have an afternoon test drive in a 458 followed by choosing selections for my 458 order. More fun and games..... best Steve
Onno, Glad it's being sorted! Looking at that photo, you just want to pack up everything and move, don't you? Don't forget to buy parmiggiano and prosciutto! Hedging with Lucas parts from Ferrari? Isn't that the sort of thing that started the crisis nearly 2 years ago? Have fun! Jack.
Well, the car was sorted out by Classiche yesterday and everything was hunky-dory for 2 hours to Brescia, in torrential rain. But last night, same issue again. Then, this morning, no issue any more! So I just don't know anymore. We will see what happens. I'm typing this with the laptop on the roof of my car in the Fiera, where all the cars are being inspected. It is amazing to see all these beauties, some wonderful cars here. Onno
Enjoy your beautiful day. There are not many better ways to spend a day than on the plaza the day before the start. Just fantastic. George
Trip to Italy Euro 2500 330 GTC windshield Euro 600 Doing what you're doing right now: PRICELESS! Africa seems so far away from everything right now...for me anyway. At least Rob van Zyl should be there with his barchetta!
Jazzy I have a Daytona voltage regulator you are welcome to borrow if its any use. It not a Lucas part though on a Daytona heres a pic so you can see what its like. Grant Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
while over here in Italy we made a last minute trip from Milano over to Brescia to see the start of the Mille Miglia. The Ferrari pre-tour started first at 6:30 PM. Saw Onno going around the curve in town right after the start. the car looked great. There were 3 other GTCs and a couple 330 GTSs, and a few other beautiful vintage FCars. Hope his electrical conditions righted themselves.
Mille Miglia was great again! Took a picture of Onno in Sirmione. There were lots of F40's, Enzo's (great!!) but sadly too many California's, Scuds and 16M's. But also a 288GTO, 275GTB's, fantastic 250LM (!!!), Daytona's and some other cool classics. I missed the fabulous looking 250GT SWB, but could see it driving past the restaurant we were having dinner. Hi guys, what a crazy few days we have had!!! A week, actually. Things went wrong with the car but in the end it was resolved and we arrived in Brescia yesterday evening. I'm going through some of the pics and I shot tons of on-board video. Most special? a) the arrival in Rome and the little chat with Luca di M. about my car, and b) the best drive of my life - behind a well-driven 275GTB on one of the best roads I've ever driven, with no other traffic. It was divine!! I will put some of it on my YouTube channel later, when I've gone through the on-board video stuff. Driving on the Imola and Fiorano tracks was great too. I suppose a special mention is also due for the car, during the race she performed great and she was an absolute joy to drive. It was just so overwhelming, just fantastic. I'll post some updates later, too much to go through right now. Onno
Here's a shot or two we bought from a professional service offered during the rally. I just love the shot taken at Imola! Hard to see but the expression on our faces on the picture with the girls is also priceless - as we arrived in the town the whole stage was in blue smoke with a soprano singing. We then drove into the blue smoke and these girls appeared, we were (pleasantly) shocked! Congratulations Onno! Can't remember when I've seen a current-era shot of a GTC looking so good (on-track pic)! Well done. Tritone 10313
Sorry Fred, didn't have time to sort out the video. I'm back in the African jungle now, so uploading to YouTube is not going to happen until I get back. You'll have to wait for 4 weeks, most likely. But I'll definitely try and make time and edit something nice together. Onno
Imola picture is just stunning! Too bad you're back in the "jungle". This means we can't enjoy your car tomorrow...
Yes, that broke my heart. For the uninitiated: tomorrow there is a combined meeting between the Dutch Bugatti Club and the Dutch Ferrari Club, called Enzo meets Ettore. I just LOVE Bugattis, so that would have been such a cool day to be present. In fact, I promised myself I would be. But unfortunately the timing was too awkward. For some reason, we need to go out and earn a living at some point. Whoever came up with that idea - I'm not a fan!!! Onno
Onno, Get with the times, my friend! Working is so mundane and passe. Credit is the way to go! But having to give up one Sayurday for all the fun you've been having seems a small price to pay Bugs are fun, I'll never forget my first ride.
Seems you are partying like it's 2007! Onno P.S. Lovely pics here by my friend Roger! Was certainly an amazing turnout! http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=285103
Beautiful car, I've always liked the 330GTC, great color as well. Nice to see that there are cars like these around in NL!
