Well, my wife and I left yesterday for our (my) journey to Maranello. We are in Oslo at the moment staying with friends and then off to Italy. We'll be in Florence for a few days and then my part of the trip starts...3 days in the Modena / Maranello area. The factory tour is scheduled for Friday...I absolutely cannot wait. Lot's of pictures forthcoming!

Make sure you drive around the general area. There's all sorts of stuff to see, especially the new factory, which they won't let you in, but the wind tunnel is right at the entrance and it is a work of art to behold.
Eat at the Cavalino Restaurant and when you leave buy a bottle of their Balsamic vinegar with a the Ferrari Logo on the bottle. It is like syrup and the bottle is really neat to have in a Ferrari memorabilia collection

Got back a few days ago...I filled up a 256MB card in two days...amazing place! There are these small garages around town where 250SWBs, 275GTB/4s, 330GTCs, are being worked on. Many of the garage owners are ex-F1 mechanics from the 60' & 70's have many stories to tell.

We stayed in the Planet Hotel (highly recommended) directly across from the factory. We were on the 4th floor with a patio overlooking the factory. I'm beginning the process of reformating the pics to post here. Lots of F430's, 612's running around including the Maser MC12.

The wind tunnel is indeed a work of sculpture.

PM me for a spot for some great "spy photos." I saw two F430 Spiders there the week before last ;) Too dark for pics, but got these the day before:

We must have been there the same day(thursday 14th) they were wheeling the MC12 from a siding in the assembly line hall(360&575)but did not see it on the track though when we first arrived 10 o"clock ish there was an F1 car on the circuit and when we left about 15:30 MS was going around the track,We did not see any of the 430 spiders as they were rumoured to be in the Enzo production hall but We were lucky enough to see 2 Enzo"s one inside the factory going for a test drive and another one the following day on the road(may have been the same one)but it is totally fascinating and worthwhile trip,I for one could have spend a lot longer there.

everybody goes to the cavalino ristorante. it's fine, but be sure to go to the montana ristorante down the street on the other side of the fiorano track. it's schumacher's favorite place to eat when he's in maranello. really good food and lots of ferrari atmosphere inside.
