JPM would be the best thing to happen to NASCAR. Imagine all the fans from S. America and of Hispanic descent here in the US who would tune in. It wouldn't matter to me (because I don't follow NASCAR) but he could enjoy success and recognition far beyond what he stands to realize in the IRL or CART.

JPM driving a NASCAR would actually get me to watch NASCAR. And I bet he'd be good at it. Very good.

The only problem is: NASCAR is run by the good ol' boys and they basically decide who's gonna win and who's not. I'd think him being South American and a F1 star, they'll get together to bump into the wall at the first race in an oval.

But on a road course I bet he'd be flying up front.

And the clashes between him and Tony Stewart would be classic. Two somewhat overweight, rather disheveled individuals who feel they have the right to any corner.

I could see that in the first race but you can't finish if all you are doing is running JPM off the road. Remember that he can dirve ovals faster than any of the current NASCAR boys

    Good point.

So if NASCAR gets JPM, can F1 please have Jeff Gordon? There is a Torro Rosso car that even has his flag on it. :)

May not be a bad move for him. I don't think he ever got his head around the "number 2 driver" concept, and honestly I don't think any driver coming out of a upper US series would accept that. Here, the team's job is to get their driver to the finish line first, and there is one team/crew per driver. Why would any racer accept all the team resources going to another driver?

Granted, we have multicar teams via ownership, but even within that multicar team the crews & drivers are competing

F1 would be the loser if Montoya left, he certainly adds color to the sport. His talent would be wasted in NASCAR, Champ cars, or IRL.

When MS was winning year-after-year... ..if it wasn't for JPM, F1 would have been more dull to watch than Golf on TV.

When MS was a GOD for 7 years... JPM would spank him with an amazing pass (every few races) and remind people that F1 cars could pass on the track. Thank God! I hate races that are won in the pits or qualifying.

JPM didn't do so hot last time he was in a stock car. As for NASCAR denying him entry because he's hispanic, that's a lot of nonsense. NASCAR is has had races down in Mexico for at least the last two years. NASCAr is all about growing the fan base.

Do any of you guys think we will see a number of F1 drivers and former F1 drivers make a transition to NASCAR due to it's growing fan base?

There were some great passes, hairpin in GP Europe where MS got stuck on the curb comes to mind, and some poorly judged ones too- Austria where he took them both off the track also comes to mind.

To my eyes he was always more focused on proving himself against Schumacher than with actually winning races and championships. Which ties in with why he failed- not from a lack of talent but rather lack of termperment -- JPM is his own worst enemy.

From the whining to the crashing to the distractions JPM derailed his own career AND managed to be a jerk about it the entire way. I won't miss him, and probably won't even notice his absence.
