Dude who fashioned himself as an internet car legend who's Carrera GT was actually stolen. He died running the VC Hillclimb. ***Rob, delete this if you'd like...
Spoke to him on the phone few times, never met him. Seemed nice enough on the phone, although I too heard all the stories about him.
Geneva Cheetah you forgot the Cheetah... hehehe Really Barn find that Miura. Where was the last sighting of this one? There are "reportedly" TWO Miura's needing help in Twin Peaks Ca.

Nope..they have of late been transported to the PNW..no more to be said at this time..... They may just end up with the Cheetah ???
I found it, in Impound.....returned to him for the last year of his life. Shawn saw it, when he picked up his Dino. The Impound Yard was trying to spirit it away, IMO. It had wrong plates, no insurance, several issues. had to get a Bonded Title. That accident report is probably the last place the VIN appeared, and the officer's handwriting was NOT good, the reason I had to call in to locate it.
That's not quite accurate, but it wasn't Steve McQueens car either. Just a Miura.. Not even split sump.
I dunno Rob, he was a mystery, inside of an enigma... Towards the end, there was no answer at the door, I was working nearby and tried a few times. I DO still have the photo shoot with the Penthouse Pet, and her bf was there the next day ready to shoot up the place, over that roll of film.... People are funny....I wonder about Mrs. Vallandingham, too...
..about a year, all in...pancreatic cancer. No cure. He had bottomed out and got sober at 16, had about 26 years IIRC....he gave me his Big Book, he thought I needed it. Still have it. Once your death sentence comes in, I imagine you do what you please....any of you would. I guess I saw the good in him, you had to peel a few layers of the onion, as Shrek wisely put it years later....I guess that makes me Eddie Murphy's donkey.. "Is that a hint on minty freshness I smell??" He was a tough guy, I sent him to my dentist, as he had a few teeth going....I asked him later, if they saved them....no, he had them all pulled out. Wow....
Hi RENOG2 the rule here is if your new and you have a restored Miura, I get it for a week and let you drive my 599. I know harsh rules, but rules are rules.. Welcome to the board!
And when you restore a Miura, you also are required to support a resto of a vintage Jeep Wagoneer. Why, I just so have one in need.... JRV, I didn't know well, but from what I understand, he started a Lambo chat board and was a mechanic. Everything else, coming from me, would be hearsay.
hahahahahaha, how long is the Lambo caravan for double doubles going to get? Make sure you get the rear wheels lined up right.
His business was "Pinnacle Motorsports": Pinnacle Motorsports Home Page ferrari, lamborghini, porsche, service, repair, racing, parts, sales, restorations, engines, suspension, brakes, turbo's,clutches -mick
12 years later have we ever figured out the SN of the JRV Miura? Funny looking at the old posts, wow some of these posts and posters didn't age well at all! Feels good to be justified in hindsight, but what a pain at the time.
Did we find out about the car and where? As I have gotten older, I am disappointed by a few of my early day posts. I think I was trying to be funny with bunch of Lambo friends and today it does not even translate that well to me. Funny thing is, I never has any beef with Roy or JRV and don't know why my post come off as rough, even to me. I think JRV just threw me off the site for asking why 2 others were band. I asked and his responding post: "Your gone" Even today, if Roy had a car I wanted, I'd buy it from him. I like how I have mellowed over the years
Umm, because JRV, Allan, and Roy (not as much) were asses! I did find this tidbit that might help our search. In 2005 JRV mentioned it was a 1967 and owned by Steve McQueen. I couldn't find any record of McQueen owning a Miura, but maybe someone else knows? Image Unavailable, Please Login
Things have changed over years, in the early days everything was more relaxed not like this wokeism of nowadays. I always tried to be polite to everybody, of course didn't achieve all the times and hope I didn't make enemies. I think JRV has many bad days because of his cancer, not an elephant's skin, more likely the opposite. Being member of L-talk since more than twnety years and also on the former site, I trully can't remember that JRV ever disclosed the SN of this Miura - he claimed the customer didn't pay his debts for years and he basically kind of bought/kept it that way.
That's confusing, the Italian Job car is known and is not the one which JRV had. I think his was red, not orange and not green, but would need to search to find a picture, I think he posted once about 20 years back.
It was also a 1967. So I don't think AI or Google Search that only indicates Steve McQueen associated with the Italian Job Miura are not JRV's car. So then the question is why did JRV think "his" 1967 was owned by McQueen? Do we have any more documentation about Miuras McQueen was associated with?
