Alonso re-joining Renault seems more feasible than ( but still pretty unbelievable)

Given the imminent exit of Button I now think a Ferrari powered Red Bull in the hands of FA would give other teams pause. I like the rumor and I hope its actually true. Nice shake up of the grid it would be. Its F1 and this is possible :)

a lot of "if"s would have to fall into place, and even if they did Alonso still has a contract in place with McLaren

    I call BS

Redbull/TR have 4 cheap and very talented drivers all aiming for the top seats within the group. Alonso will not/never fit in and on top of that, he will come at a pretty impressive pricetag.
No way he will be part of this group, ever ( and do not get me wrong, i do like him and it really hurts to see him suffering with McHonda)

Whoever spread this rumor must be either living in a fantasy world or mixes feasibility with the wizard of Oz

Rumors about an exit clause based on performance as well.

FA's management is not foolish. He has an exit clause. Just ask Ron Dennis.

For sure he has an exit clause. Both sides do.

All Alonso has to do is how the qualifying positions of himself vs Button, the finishing order, and the DNF's.

Alonso has beaten Button almost every race so there is no way Mac can say he's been sandbagging to get out. He can leave if he wants but he throws away a guaranteed 120 million dollars in the next 4 years.

I would love to see it. That move would have others nervous, they all know who the best still is...

I don't think Alonso would sign a contract without a performance clause. You'd have to think that the clause wouldn't kick in until next season, though, since everyone has pretty much said this year would be a development year. I don't think Ron would be that stupid, would he?

The Red Bull organisation tends to recruit young drivers and groom them at Toro Rosso before promoting them at RB iteslf, or ... sacking them if they don't live to expectation.

Promoting talents has been part of the philosophy behind Mateschitz approach to F1. RB has a pool of drivers to choose from in his 2 teams and in lower categories too.

Therefore, I cannot see how they would abandon that to suddenly recruit at high cost an established driver probably with his best years behind. That would be a complete U-turn in their policy.

I think Alonso at Red Bull is a non-starter.

even if there is an exit clause in alonso's contract, no other team is going to come close to the kind of money he is getting now.

I don't think Ferrari would want Alonso-ricciardo against them with the same engine, but maybe ricciardo comes in for Kimi, maybe that's the price of their engines? Silly season is here

+1 Red Bull has a depth of talent available for relative peanuts. I agree, contrary to their philosophy and would add nothing.

BS. RB will need all the spare cash it can get to pay for Ferrari engines... One area they aren't lacking is the drivers. This rumour might be based on reality - but that reality would be fantasy concocted in Alonso's own head.

What if the rumors of VW buying the red bull team and racing as audi are true? I can see in that case that them wanting to pay for a top notch talent like Alonso, rather than stick with Kvyat who has been up and down in his results.

Alonso is old news, he's just caustic, and not worth remotely close to what he's getting paid. He can't stay in good terms with anybody even for one freaking year. That's extremely costly for a team all by itself. Top drivers need to be team players, and have the ability to bring the team closer, not divide it. Can't believe a 4-time WDC like Vettel with the above abilities gets paid less than this clown. If I was McLaren, I'd just dump him for lack of performance (of course they have an out, and FA probably too), and see who the hell pays him what he was getting. He doesn't have to drive worse than Button to consider him a 'bad performer'. I'm sure he's blaming the car as always, but even if it's the car (it has to be at some degree), he also has blame for sure, so there shouldn't be any problem sacking him. And let's see who the heck wants that radioactive person in their team :)... especially at anything close to what he's getting now. He hasn't been a champion for a decade. And again, even a great driver that just can't work with any team, how attractive is that? Curious to see what happens to the guy.
