No Brainer. Totally agree. Look at the punishment levied upon the leaker. The Septics appear particularly insane in 'reaction' to any 'percieved' threats. Cuba, Vietnam, Afghanistan ect ect. Now its down to individuals. The statistics on imprisonment & parolee poulations in the US are mind boggling. Question is will they get him? I for one would like to think not. Is he still in the Ecquadorian Embassy? Will they manage to get him out to the airport? Wouldn't bet the farm on it. Will be an ongoing s**t fight for sure.
Most are in for non-violent drug charges. A little ironic that he has sort refuge in the embassy of a country that quashes freedom of speech & the press. Cheers

he knew which side of the bread was buttered, Equador and the US are not exactly pals. I'm looking forward to the movie but most of what I have read on the net seems to paint him as an anarchist ..... so I like him Long time hackers have always been hunted, I don't like them either if they do any damage but it doesn't appear as if he did so it is just paranoia on the Yanks. If the charges of rape in Sweden were real why did they let him leave the country when they had him ?

1. boy from broken home 2. likes pissing around with computers 3. starts hacking into protected sites with some mates 4. starts wikileaks to expose skullduggery 5. marine gives wikileaks some sensitive info 6. US hammers the marine and is now after Assange 7. the Swedes let him leave the country after investigating an alleged rape 8. he lives in the UK for ages but is not extradited to the US 9. then he gets an order from the Swedes to return to face the alleged rape case 10. hé doesn't want to go as he knows this is a pre-cursor to extradition to the US where he will face the paranoid tosser brigade with "truth, justice and the American way" In another words Pappy, beware of your masters
I hope the TV movie covers the help this guy has given the Feds here in knowing how to use their own computers to go after some of the absolute dirt-bags we have in this country. Could go either way, you could paint him as the good guy or the bad guy, but either way as Dennis will now tell you if you ask him about the Cricket, it's not what actually happened that shapes Australian memory - it's how the TV movie said it happened that shapes the nation's memory.

Let me guess, the american military will be played as a*seholes (just like every other Hollywood fantasy, e.g. Avatar) and Assange a fearless champion of the truth? He's just a 2-bit hacker who bit off more than he could chew and who's had more than his 15 minutes of fame. Why don't these "heroes" hack the terrorist networks (they have them) and expose the daily plans to blow up innocent women and children? How about exposing the Pakistan complicity in the Taliban, Indonesian role in people smuggling, etc, etc. Nope, it's always the yanks who are the bad guys.
