Anyone interested in a July 4th (Monday) F-car thing? Ideas: 1. An early morning drive to Pinehurst through the Devil's Stomping Ground. 2. Drive to VIR and rental of the kart track for an hour 3. Winery run along the Moonshine Rally trail 4. Jaunt along the Blue Ridge Parkway 5. Hang out at Bermuda Run and run up my bar bill 6. Wash & Detail at "Villa Pass" -d
I plan to be in Virginia that weekend. But would very much like to participate in something. The closer the better. My car has some how gotten an extra 10k miles on it plus a nasty scratch from an autocross cone to go with the horrible scrapes on the underside trying to figure out where the Bermuda Run crowd was going to go. I hope everyone missed that dip. Just kidding about the mileage concern, everything else was factual, and the car has the scares to prove it. Just let me know where we want to get together. Has everyone seen Bob's post about FerrariChat.com. If not please check it out. I for one can not say enough good things about how things are handled here. Way to go Bob, and keep those sponsors coming!
Please excuse the spelling errors in the previous post. I am on my second bottle of wine purchased from the winery we finished at on the Hill Billy Big Car Rally. Should have been more Ferraris for that one.
I'd be interested, but I'll probably be moving that weekend. We close on the house the 20th. Hardwood floors will take till the 25th.... No down time for me!
Folks - I have just spoken to VIR and put a soft reservation on the KART TRACK for a 1-hour session on Saturday morning, July 2 from 9am-10am. http://www.virclub.com/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=section&id=11&Itemid=70 They will hold my reservation until tomorrow. The track rental is $600, so the more people we get the cheaper it becomes. This is not a toy track or some type of amusement park ride; it's the real deal. I propose a Ferrari caravan to the track, some karting, lunch, and a nice drive home. Please contact me ASAP if you're interested. Don't give me some lame-ass story about moving, going to the beach, having a birthday party for a 2-year son, etc. etc. Money talks, B.S. walks. Who's goin' karting???
Drive up to Marion Exit 86 going north on Rte 80 near Lake Tahoma to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Very nice curvy road sort of like Rte 66 near Hanging Rock but a lot more scenery. Plus take some of the other roads towards Boone NC as in Rte 194 ,221 and 184. Might be too much driving for eveyrone in one day but its a nice route to take. Stop by the TA on that weekend for Gas if you would like. I will most likely be at the hotel which I have a lot of Parking availible for everyone to relax when you head to VIR. The Kart track is very intense so go slow at first to get a feel of the Kart. It's more intense than the Andretti Speed Lab in my opinion and more room in some spots to pass if you have the momentum.
KART TEAM: We are now confirmed at VIR on July 2 for the kart track. You know who you are; bring a helmet and gloves (if you desire); suit will be provided. Rain or shine, we'll have fun. Although N24RE has promised to open a can of whoop-ass, I'm still angling to get him into a Minardi model, and we'll take the McLarens.
My lame-ass excuse is.... I'm working. So unless you all come up here and deicde to have a mental breakdown and need hospitalization for mental health, I won't be able to make it.
