Well, for July we have a special CORSO planned. This month we are going on the road. We’ve arranged for special Parking at Barber Motorsports Park Museum. If you have not been this is a treat, pretty much in our backyard! George Barber has the LARGEST Lotus F-1 Car collection outside of Historic Team Louts in the UK. He also has John Surtees’ 1964 World Champion Ferrari along with several other Formula One cars and a couple of other Ferrari’s. He has without a doubt the largest Motorcycle collection in the world. The Museum is amazing, and his restoration facility is cool too. We’ll tour the whole thing! Tickets are $15 per person ( optional and on your own ). Special Ferrari Parking is being set aside as well.

    So the Details:

    1. We’ll leave Ok Café at West Paces and Northside Drive Parking Lot at 9 AM, and plan on arriving at the Museum by 11 CST. hang out till 1 PM. Highly recommend touring the museum. There is a chance we get to do some parade laps, but that will be known closer to the date.

    2. Optional return scenic drive for those that want to drive and do lunch! You can of course you use I-20 as the express alternative.

    Return Route:

I hope to see you July 31! Great time to drive the Ferrari –low key, see some amazing cars, and hang out!

That's a good idea Jim. I've been to that outlet but never those places. The outlet is nice. I like Barbers but your food suggestion is probably a lot better than the Cantina at the museum. I plan on driving up from Tuscaloosa and tagging along with you guys. Drew

Note that they are closed from 2 to 5 PM, so that might be a problem, since it will take some time to drive there from Barber.

Sure thing Jim - I'd be happy to. There are some back roads to Barber's from Tuscaloosa that are a lot of fun in that car. Drew

If we leave ATL and 9am eastern we should be at Barber no later than 10:30am central. The lunch suggestion in Oxford is just under an hour drive from the museum. Which might be tight time wise as Jim noted. Other than the Backyards suggestion, any of the Alabama gang have other suggestions ?

Not really around the track. I live there and there just isn't anyplace fun and different to eat for an out of towner. Everything worth going to is in the other direction from Atlanta and will tie you up going and coming.

    Hi Cody,

There is not a lot around Leeds, AL except the outlet mall with the place Jim suggested, Probably the easiest option, close and should be fine.

The other options would be to go into BHM which is the wrong way for the ATL folks or any of the restaurants on the way back in the Anniston/Oxford area. I am not familiar with that area but a google search showed a good assortment.

Guys, you are missing the obvious place. The Golden Corral in Anniston!

It looks like my car will not be ready by Saturday. (We're still waiting for a rebuilt part to come back from the west coast.) I will still like to go to Barber, as a passenger in someone else's Ferrari. Does anyone have an available passenger seat?

(I'd prefer someone who doesn't drive ridiculously fast - keep it under 100, please? And someone who plans to come right back to Atlanta after lunch.)

On second thought, I probably wouldn't want to drive the 328 on Saturday even if I had it back. The predicted high temp on Saturday both here and at Barber is 96 degrees with a heat index of about 103 (at noon), so I don't think its A/C would be up to the task no matter how well it's working. If you're planning on driving to Barber, make sure your A/C is working good!

My wife is trying to talk me into a more modern Ferrari so that we can participate in these trips. Agree with you Jim, probably wouldn’t be the most comfortable experience in our cars.

Tom, if we leave OK at 9 AM, we'll be arriving at Barber closer to 10 AM CDT; is that too early? One pit stop I'd suggest along the way is the Alabama Welcome Center on I-20 at the state line.

If anyone cares, we're actually waiting on two parts, both in the fuel system: the metering head and pressure regulator. Has anyone else here had issues with these on 328s or Ferraris of similar age?

Great event, I’m in—will be traveling from ATL instead of Tuscaloosa this time. Excited to see an F40 in the wild!
