I have a friend of mine who owns a 612 and his battery is dead. He has not driven the car in the past week and a half. Can anyone tell me where the battery is located and if there is some special procedure for jump-starting this car. Thanks in advance for the help.

Pull both paddles to put it in neutral. Then find a hill and start pushing. Get the car up to about 10 mph then shift up into 1st.

Is there a way to jump it off of another battery? Where is the battery located?

LOL. Find a hill when the car cant start might be problematic , esp with a 1.8T car.

No hills around here I would be willing to "push" that car to. Does anyone know where to download the manual so I can find out where the battery is located and the manual trunk release?
    Thanks

Can't you just ask the dealer where he bought it? Seems kinda strange you'd be asking something like this on a forum....

    Just sayin'

He does have 99 posts, after all, so perhaps a valid request?

Battery is inside the trunk, behind a panel on the passenger side outboard wall.

Manual trunk release is behind a leather flap inside of the rear center arm rest, unless you're trapped inside the trunk already, in which case it's above your head on the ceiling. Just kidding.

Beyond this, you're on your own...

    Best,

    Gary

You could also pull the 612 with a SUV up to 10 mph and follow mpaub1386's procedure? I did that a couple of time but my Mondial has a manual gearbox.

The battery is in the trunk on the right side, just pull the cover material away, I'd recommend charging the battery, don't try and jump start it you'll break something.

I seem to recall reading an article ages ago in Classic & Sportscar about the 348 and the problems which occur when charging the battery. It including going to the workshop afterwards to reset the car's computer.

I've recharged batteries before on many cars including Maserati, but I'd be a bit wary about the 612. I'd just call the dealer and ask for his advice.

you can damage the electronics in both cars by jumping one of these. I would just charge the battery.

go buy a trickle charger from walmart for $20.. plug it in your cig. lighter . leave it on overnight

you dont want to jumpstart the car, it will make the alternator work overtime and a good chance of damaging it.$$$$
