What treasures have you found at the local junk yard (where you go out & remove it yourself)? Lots for the RX7: Rust-free door for my wide body, sun roof, tail light units, rear bumper, carpet, Al stock wheels (for racing tires), misc. trim pieces & a few small but expensive engine pieces. For the 240Z: perfect stock seats. What claims have you made at the junk yard? They call me, ”The Mazda Lady” & never check my tool box.

Most of them now rather be referred as automotive dismantling & recycling centers. A couple over years ago Triple A/ Small car world in Ft. Worth, TX had lots of Porsches, BMW’s, AMG Mercedes Benz, DeLorean & sometime a Ferrari or two.

Not sure if it was treasure exactly..?

But I once spent 2 hrs getting the front off a 1981 Honda Accord in a Junkyard to get at the clutch slave cylinder...only to find it was an Auto!

    D'oh!!!

Yep, I should have looked inside first!

I used to haunt the junkyards. Not so much these days, because of the cars I own and also because they don't like customers wandering the lots anymore :(

I used to spend hours looking at the cars, and still try to see what's in a yard while driving by.

My heart does a little flutter when I see the Pick-n-Pull billboard that says "$25 all-you-can-carry this weekend." :)
