I'm thinking of getting an automatic espresso machine. I tried both the DeLonghi and the Saeco Syntia and was unimpressed with their constuction and the quality of coffee they produced.

I sampled the Jura Z7, and it made terrific espresso. My question is; is it really worth nearly $3k? Does it hold up well? Also, do the less expensive Jura machines (S9, F7, ENA5) do as good a job for $1,000 (or more,) less?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

We have one of the better Juras (don't ask which) at the office and the coffee is quite tasty. Would it be worth a four figure sum to me? Surely not. But then I'm a philistine when it comes to coffee ;)

Depending on how much of a DIY guy you are, you may find comfort in our success in hacking the firmware and resetting the service intervals (after which the machine will refuse to make coffee until serviced by a dealer) :D

Funny, but there's quite a lot of information on the Internet concerning the hacking of espresso machines. Who knew?

I'm really not a coffee connoisseur, either. However, poor coffee is worse than no coffee at all. Plus, I work out of a home office frequently these days, so the machine would see a fair amount of use.

I was dying for a latte when I woke this morning; I'd have been an easy mark if there was a salesman about.

Go to William Sonoma. Sample the Nespresso espresso's. Be impresed, buy machine, save $800. :)
Edit: save $2800 over the $3k machine :D
