The guy's been successful in the past......

And the US head honcho (Gulati?) has tried to hire him 3 times now - I guess they've given him "complete control" over the squad et al......

    I think he's good.

    Cheers,
    Ian

    He did well coaching Bayern!

He was a great player for one of the strongest national teams in Europe in the 80/90's!

Looking forward to seeing the team from US in the 2014 World Cup. Would be exciting if it wasn't just the same old Europe vs. South America..

Let's hope for the best. I think he has a chance to do great things. I feel a little bad but I guess it was time for a change.

+1 He also managed Germany to 3rd in the World Cup in 2006.

+1 on both. However, stellar players don't often translate to stellar managers. I think Gulati wanted him since he has international management experience.

The USA should be doing a lot better than they've shown thus far IMO - A traditionally very weak qualifying group, make the big dance and then the wheels fall off.....

    Cheers,

There is no doubt that being a good player, not also means that you will make a good manager, but in this case, he has proven to have proper managing qualities.

This is a good thing for US soccer. As I said, I am looking forward to seeing some progress towards the World Cup and further on. With the population and more interest towards soccer, the US has a huge potential in the future.

First match came out pretty well, considering the circumstances. I have a feeling our team will look much different than it has in the last few years. Can't wait to see how things build up to WC qualifying..

I think the fact that it is Jurgen Klinsmann is a big deal - some argue he hasn't shown enough as a coach to justify the hype, but it's hard to argue his resume. He was a strong player and brings recognition to the team.

Bradley was not bad, but I always felt we needed a high profile coach that can begin transition for the US. We still don't have enough skilled players to compete with the likes of European or South American powerhouses.

What they really need is someone to help at the youth level.

Apparently, Jurgen was instrumental in making this happen in Germany......

You've certainly got the talent base - Just that right now the "studs" choose Baseball or "football"..... If he can get 'em to, say, the semi-finals in Brazil, that *may* start to change.

    Cheers,
    Ian

Klinnsman is a motivator and man manager, he gets the best out of players but is purely an attacking manager. A lot of Germans don't think too highly of him due to his ignoring of defensive responsibilities and focus on going forward. He is also not a tactician and has some very strange managerial decision under his belt.

He'll do a good job if he gets the right people in around him to do the things he can't.
