I once had a nice chat with Hobbs on the Seattle waterfront. We were there to witness the end of the Great Race, the cross-country road rally for vintage cars, I as a spectator and he as a TV reporter. Before the cars arrived, he had some spare time. A very charming chap!
Then June 2-3 signing books at the Greenwich Concourse http://myemail.constantcontact.com/David-Hobbs-to-sign-his-new-book-at-the-Greenwich-Concours.html?soid=1124317725718&aid=m_aeUY3i3W0
As the old joke goes, a guy asks David Hobbs for an autograph. Hobbs obliges. Guy says, "This is great, I always wanted Brian Redman's autograph!". BHW
Ouch. Many moons ago, at a Trenton ChampCar race, young me ran up and asked Mario for an autograph. Ooooopppsss. It was Aldo. (That doesn't count for demerits tho', does it?)
'Can't slip anything past you, eh? Methinks I learned real quick right then and there that they were truly identical (I knew they were twins. I was about 12 and was devouring all I could find about racing already), but didn't know the man standing there was not Mario, I just assumed in my excitement...)
