A voice of reason! Sheesh! Do we actually think Tiger Woods, David Beckham, Roger Federer, Michael Jordan or Michael Schumacher are nice, humble guys? If you do, then have a private conversation with any of them and I'm certain you'll lose the illusion. These guys are Type A at the maximum level. I think, actually MS and LH are probably more media savvy than the others. And before going off track about Hamilton not accomplishing anything like the others, I know that. I'm saying that the driven personalities are all the same, and I wanted to use examples that we all could relate to.
LH is the best rookie ever, period. He's way underpaid and his father is looking out for his interest. As the first black man to do what he has done at the highest level of motor racing is unbelievable. Will this benefit motor racing? I think so. Arrogant? I think you have to be pretty cocky to hang onto that car. This stuff is not for the timid. How soon some on this board have tuned against him for something he had nothing to do with.
Heidfeld has been faster than him all season. It is going to take more than an excuse or two to explain Kubicka's performance deficit.
Best would be for Mclunkers to lead 1-2 to the last lap, then mysteriously die, and roll to a stop yards from the line as the Ferrari's blow past for a 1-2. Do that the last three races and it would be really cool.
For me LH started getting a little cheeky at the blocking incident and has gone rapidly downhill from there. I believe this was not too long after his daddy got him a raise. (RD would not have paid it if LH were not worth it would he?).
Has the pay off by Alonso been confirmed? I can't believe I'm going to defend him here, but just because he did better than Lewis in the last race doesn't men that he had to pay off his crew. Maybe his veteran talent is more than Hami can handle.
What was LH supposed to do ? Roll over and kiss FAs but for eternity ? These two are fighting for the WDC tooth and nail. Daddy's job as manager is to look out for his son in a dog-eat-dog world. RD would have been a fool not to compensate LH voluntarily (Not required in his contract) as after FA twists the knife at the end of this season, LH will be the #1 driver. IMO he has not gone "downhill" but evolved as all people do as they become more important in any organization and loose the newbie status. This time next year, if he wins the WDC, he will be even more self confident. Naturally.
I had hoped that Lewis would stay the gentleman that he was at the beginning of the year. I believe that it would have been better for the team, F1, the fans and himself if he had done so. We all have feet of clay and Lewis is no exception. I am just not as avid a Lewis fan as I was before the blocking incident. Sorry to see that some of the negative aspects of Unfairnando, Dennis the Menace and F1 have started to rub off on this talented rookie. It may be remarkable that he stayed above the fray for as long as he did. Especially at his young age. I wish he had stayed true to the high standards he set for F1. Perhaps he will get back to being his old good self. I hope so. Not saying he is horrible, just not at the level of excellence he established earlier in the season IMVHO.
I don't understand what does the colour of people have anything to do with anything, let alone motor sports. i mean i hate when people say the first black man or white man to do this or that,i mean who cares about the skin colour. Anyway IMO he is the best driver of this season and he has extraordinary abilities.
You and Phylotic's negative response tells me you did not understand my post. LH is a marketing dream and F1 is all about money. Ron Dennis looked at this kid when he was 17 and said, "I can sell this worldwide". You both are right, we don't need to address the race of the first black man on the moon. But we will, and Google will promote it. It's all about money, and LH is an angle that everyone will exploit. Hopefully he gets his due. He's stinking fast and is a victim of the 2007 F1 season. Hopefully he will outlive the manipulated mess that 07 has become. Good Night Gentlemen.
I have the utmost respect for NH's ability, I think he is outstanding and under appreciated. I stood at turn 4 Albert Park, 20 meters from the corner, you are so close to the track that the performance of the cars is brutal. So fast you cannot tell who is driving except by listening to technique, braking point, power back on etc. You have to be close up trackside on a proper corner to comprehend the differences between someone like him and the rest. (most of the rest !) He is awesomely committed and oh so consistent. Noticeably so. Unless BMW step up that last notch or 2 I don't think we are ever going to see how good NH really is, the blinkered managers of Mcl and SF will never be that curious. RK is also devastatingly quick, yes, but just over the edge on being ragged and I wonder if he will ever polish up a bit smoother (no pun intended)
Unfortunately F1 is now just like any other business where nepitism, politics, favours and money get in the way of who is really better at what they do. Just imagine someone actually getting ahead because of what they know rather than who.
Let Lewis prove himself in a lesser team and then ONLY THEN will I agree and say he is a great driver, but until then he is just a rookie driving for a top team period.
So It means nothing to you, that he is still leading his 2xWDC team mate in the same car. (imagine the car was a mid field runner) same drivers or not FA is probably the best, You think it would be different.! Leads me to believe If you can't see it now you never will period.
How many GP wins did Massa have before he joined SF? My point is that its all about the car today...I'd like to see Rosberg in a ferrari or mcLaren (which may happen if FA leaves). Also both Massa and Hamilton had much more experience than KR or FA with the BS tires.
