Why are most boxers more expensive then testarossas?

    like a 79 boxer is > then a 87 testarossa?

Is it because they are classics?

Not to mention that they were also never officially imported into the US, hence, way fewer in numbers.

Because Boxers are lighter, more raw and nimble to drive, a true race Ferrari experience and they are simpler to work on as well.
Boxers are the last totally handbuilt Ferraris and look as fresh today as 30 years ago, a true Ferrari the way Enzo entended, he refused to modify them with heavy crash bumpers and protection for the American market saying it would wreck the appearance of his beautiful car, the TR was designed from the beginning for the North American market with crash protection and emmission controls for the EPA.
The added touches like the opening clamshell hoods which is the only street production Ferrari to have them which was used on Ferrari race cars add to their appeal as well along with other touches.

Testarossa are in many ways a better car of course... just BB's have the exclusivity and the intangible "hand built" feel to them.

BB carb are just sublime. BBi doesn't do it for me anything like my Carb BB, but I'd still have one over an early Testarossa.

Try to avoid the metric wheel sizes for BBi and early TRossa... tyres are a major headache. 15" BB wheels are still not ideal. 16" would make tyre choice infinately easier.

Something like 924 BB (Carbed) and 1200 BBi (Injected) Boxers vs 9000 TRs.
Hand pounded aluminum body parts vs machine formed steel.
Race history with BBLMs, even if those were a long stretch from the street cars.
Easy to work on as there are zip zero computers to contend with.
And an Absolute Blast to Drive! You are truely connected to the car, in every sense of the word, when driving one of these machines.
Newer cars might be faster and corner better, and while neither a TR or a Boxer is ever going to be mistaken for anything other than a Ferrari, I think ol' Enzo still smiles down at his Boxers!
