Hi guys, I just bought a 575 F1. I bought it just because my first ever Ferrari was a 575 F1 too with Fiorano package many years ago. Since then, I have gone through a 599, 458 and more recently the McLarens. Took the 575 out for a drive last night and couldn't help feeling underwhelmed with the technology. I still love the looks and simple interior though. So my questions are, is it possible to change the transmission to manual? Of course done by a qualified mechanic. Second question is if there are aftermarket suspension suppliers instead of going HGTC which I assume is very expensive. Although I checked out Novitec and they quoted more than 9K for the shocks. Thanks in advance for the attention. HS
H- Congratulations on your 575M. Looking forward to seeing photographs. There is already a thread here on converting to three pedals and the answer is yes, it is possible, but professionally done, the cost could approach $20K including parts and labor. The Maranello Skunk Works guys are working on an FHP upgrade kit with springs, rear anti-roll bar, and steering ECU. If you search on Fiorano Handling Package FHP, there is a ton of info on the subject.
Congratulations on your new acquisition. Just to update Terry, Maranello Skunkworks have a host of aftermarket upgrade options for the 550/575, however, FHP upgrade kit with springs, rear anti-roll bar are not yet part of their offerings (though they have been working on a solution to provide this I understand, they have not as yet found a good supplier). They do have upgraded Steering ECU's among other things and I have their Steering ECU installed on my 575, which feels like a big improvement over the stock non-FHP Steering ECU. Having never driven an actual FHP equipped 575 I cannot comment on how close it is to the original, but I am very happy with it. You should contact John Cribb. As of last year, here attached was the scope of their offerings. Clyde Image Unavailable, Please Login
Clyde- The steering ECU is identical to the OEM version. The only difference in feel would be due to the stiffer springs and anti-roll bar on OEM FHP 575Ms. Thanks for updating me.
Thanks for the information Terry, All the more reason to be happy with the MSW Steering ECU which I think makes the steering feel like it should have to begin with. I really hope that MSW continue to try to develop an equivalent to the FHP upgrade kit with springs, and rear anti-roll bar, because those are the two areas where I think the additions would improve the feel of my 575. Hey thanks guys for the information. Very unfortunately, I just took the car out for a spin at 5.30am. It was still greyish dark as the sun was just about to break cover. I was driving the car up a bridge with moderate speed of about 50mph. On the way down, I couldn't avoid something on the road. And just as I feared it was a rock that was small enough to go underneath the car and cracked the oil pan (I hope not the engine). It was leaking oil everywhere and had to park it nearby. So, now at 6am, I am waiting to call the Ferrari dealer to send a tow truck and look at the car. Schucks!
Sorry to hear about your bad luck, it happens to all of us from time to time. Fortunately its repairable. Just to let you know on the first day out last Spring after winter storage (necessary here in Canada) I hit a big pothole and damaged a right front steering arm that needed replacing. As they say "S__t happens". Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
