Just bought a Fujitsu Lifebook that is full WiFi. I also bought an Earthlink wireless card. Until last week, I had no idea that hotels and businesses offer wireless links. This is pretty cool stuff! Just seeing what other users of this technology have experienced. The good, the bad.

I use wireless networking at home extensively. I use WEP, so others can't tap into my home network.

I heard that public wireless networks are wide-open to hackers, so make sure you turn on your firewall in your notebook if you decide to log into them. Otherwise, it's very easy for people to get into your PC.

Having said that, it's a wonderful technology. You no longer have to be tied down by the lan cable. If you can get on a G network, the speed is awesome.

I bought a Fujitsu laptop several months back and use it wireless at home. It really is convenient. I can use my laptop poolside, in the family room and in the eating space. Really is much nicer than being tied down by the cord.

I have the Sprint Wireless card. Almost anywhere you can get a PCS phone signal, then you can hook up to the internet at 130k speeds. Even driving down the interstate. I haven't tried WiFi yet, but I like the idea of being able to connect anywhere, even the race track and fishing. Not just at Starbucks and the airport.
