I was in Albuqurque 2 weeks ago and was going to look at this car if I had time, just for the hell of it but didn't get a chance. You bought it already before getting the PPI? What if it doesn't check out?

It's going to be tough to find a good Ferrari shop in New Mexico. You might PM rlucero here at FChat and ask his advice. Richard is here in Santa Fe and has a beautiful 355, I believe he goes to a shop in Denver Colorado for his work. You might also PM Copterjon in Phoenix for references there. Either way you're going to put some miles on the car. My advice is to find a proven reliable shop out of state and have the car trailered there and drive it home if it's a keeper. If you're going to have such an amazing car don't skimp and do everything right, BTW get used to writing some checks for your own piece of mind and the cars well being........it will be worth it.....Enjoy!

I used to live out west and the closest shop is in Denver. I would recommend Dave Helms at Scuderia Rampante or Ferrari of Denver. Dave is a great guy and knows his stuff. If you're lucky he may even know the car.

I know most of the 355 cars here in NM but I have never heard about this car. As I found out in the past, you have to careful on these "great bargain" cars. At the end of the day, there is no such thing as a "cheap Ferrari". Spend a bit more money and get a well sorted car.

I am the seller of the 355 Skipper was buying. I hardly consider the car a dog. It will be relisted hopefully this weekend on Ebay. If anybody would like a copy of the PPI, pics, or would like to see the car itself, PM me. Thanks!

I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure most people have an inspection done before they bid on a car on Ebay, because they understand the ramifications if they aren't satisfied with the vehicle (at least I would). Here's a copy of the PPI so everybody can see what a "dog" my car is (several of these items were posted on the Ebay listing).

that is not a PPI rather someone stopping a pre- PPI once 10,000 in repairs where determined.

It is standard when selling a Ferrari to provide service history. Seller stated in ad "car is in great condition and very well maintained. 30 k service done." However provided on a handwritten document with NOT proof of 30k service was paid or completed for over $18,000 in repairs on a $60,000 car. No one would accept this as a service record. - If you where stupid enought to accept if when you bought the car from california cars ( which is a wholesale lot when ferrari of san fran didnt want the car) then you need to find someone as stupid as you to buy the car.

I paid for an brief inspection to verify handwritten document was falsified; car needs a steering rack which is leaking -$7500. , top needs multiple parts not an alignment issue.. as described in the ebay ad -$ 2500, cracked exhaust manifold was surgically welded vs replaced Windshield sandpited, Dashboard has shrunk and air vents are cracked- $3500, front lip wheels are curbed- etc- Offered seller less or to refund /w deduct for relist as misrepresented ....seller trying to leverage ebay paypal policy to force desperate sale or keep deposits?. This is his second relisting due to misrepresentation with previous buyer.

Once someone actually has a FULL PPI you will be in for a nice surprise.

Will you be showcasing the questionable 30k service handwritten never actually paid scribbled receipt version????

The mechanic that performed the inspection hasn't reported many of the items your claiming and doubtfully would leave them off the report (a CYA thing), and as you haven't seen the vehicle I'm not sure where your pulling this stuff out of but I got a pretty good guess. I'm not even sure where you got your repair figures from, however, those figures weren't quoted from the mechanic. I'm glad you finally got yourself a 355 and once you get it to finally start I'm sure you'll find it as exhilarating to drive as I have mine.

Gershwin: He didn't buy my car, he bought another one almost immediately after he tried to renegogiate the price on my car.

this guy is the most spontaneous, ill-prepared member/owner I've seen in some time. Asking if members think high mileage cars are ok to buy - next day buying off ebay w/out PPI, then performing PPI, then complaining, then immediately finding another, then trying to figure all the bugs issues, how to start. I mean I feel his pain but also just shake my head. I even sent the poor guy a PM before he bought on ebay and told him how to find a couple of great examples - something I never do and thought he might find useful - but it would have required a little time but he was in a rush and paid no nevermind to the free advise - so who am I to say...
